"What's wrong?" Tsunade asked, looking at the dejected Jiraiya. "Did things not go well with Naruto?"

"What happened? Naruto isn't like that."

Tsunade was surprised. As far as she remembered, Naruto had always been a rather oblivious kid.

"What did you say to him?"

Jiraiya recounted what had happened.

Tsunade rolled her eyes at him in exasperation. "No wonder. Of course he'd be put off if you said it like that."

"What's wrong with what I did?" Jiraiya spread his hands.

Tsunade spoke slowly. "You've been away from the village for too long. You have no idea what that child has been through all these years."

"Naruto has never known anything about his own background. Of course he wouldn't know how to deal with an elder like you suddenly turning up."

"More importantly, you just barged into his home?!"

Tsunade planted a hand on her hip and swung a heavy punch at Jiraiya. "Jiraiya, I think all that peeping has become a habit!"

Jiraiya deftly darted aside, dodging the punch as a thin sheen of cold sweat formed on his forehead.

He still dreaded Tsunade's monstrous strength.

Years ago, she had beaten him half to death for peeping into the women's baths.

Jiraiya rubbed his chin. "So it affected him that much..."

A trace of guilt crept into his voice. "But I want to make it up to him, to fulfill my responsibility as Minato's teacher. I haven't even visited him all these years."

Tsunade waved a hand. "Then go see Denji. He should be able to get Naruto to lower his guard
