The next day, the blazing sun shone down on West Desolate City. Outside the Lawless Gang's headquarters, several guards stood watch as people streamed back and forth nearby. The place was bustling and prosperous.
"Captain, do you think that young master who came by yesterday will show up again today?"
"Yeah, that was the first time I'd ever seen someone throw money around like that. He tipped us a hundred thousand Federal Coins in one go."
"Heh, just welcoming him alone made this month comfortable for us."
"I hope we get a few more customers like him. Then we'd really be living the good life."
"Couldn't agree more."
Several guards chatted casually. What had happened the day before had left a deep impression on them. They had seen all sorts of people in West Desolate City, but never a young master like that.
"Enough about that. He won't be coming back."
The guard captain sneered. "Anyway, the gang leader has ordered everyone to keep quiet. From now on, you're not to mention this again. That young master never came to the Lawless Gang."
As a mid-ranking member of the gang, he knew plenty of inside information. He was aware that the young master had already been kidnapped by the Wind-Chasing Thieves. By now, he was probably enduring inhuman torture. He might even be dead.
Someone who was dead naturally wouldn't come back to the Lawless Gang. Of course, this was top secret, and he couldn't tell his subordinates any more.
"Captain, what do you mean? Why can't we talk about it?" one of the guards asked curiously.
The captain's eyes turned cold. "If I say we can't talk about it, then we can't. In this world, the more you know, the sooner you die. Haven't you figured that out yet?"
