At midnight, Numerous demons remained inside the Royal Palace, their nerves stretched taut. At the slightest rustle, they would act at once, terrified that they might miss any movement and allow that human thief to slip inside unnoticed.
As a result, every one of them stared with their eyes wide open, bloodshot and veined. Some had even gone cross-eyed, their minds exhausted beyond measure.
Yet when midnight arrived, the human thief who had left the message still did not appear. The entire Royal Palace remained utterly silent, as though nothing had happened at all.
One hour passed, then two, then three. At last, some demons could no longer endure it.
"What's going on? Why hasn't that human thief come yet? Could he have gotten the time wrong?"
"Wrong my ass. I read that note back and forth dozens of times just now. It definitely said midnight tonight."
"But why hasn't that human come? There hasn't been a single movement. It's so boring that when a few flies flew over earlier, we ate them alive."
"Without a doubt, that human got scared. He knew our great army was bearing down on him and must have already been scared shitless. How could he still dare show himself? He's not an idiot."
"No way. He clearly sent a challenge letter, specifically saying he would come steal from us. His tone was so arrogant, as if he were the heavens themselves. And now he saw how numerous and powerful we are and doesn't dare come? With courage that small, he still dares imitate others and become a thief?!"
"Hmph, every human is a cowardly bandit, every last one a spineless good-for-nothing. How could they compare to us demons, so valiant and battle-hardened? We merely set up our formation, and he was immediately scared shitless."
