While Xia Ping was chatting with a group of people, a sailor in the distance suddenly cried out in terror.
"What?"
At his words, everyone was shocked. Wasn't this supposed to be just a drill? Why were pirates attacking?
"What on earth happened? Weren't you keeping watch over the sea? How did you fail to spot the pirates coming?" someone shouted in sheer panic.
On this endless sea, with no help anywhere in sight, running into vicious pirates was the most despairing thing imaginable.
"A huge bank of fog suddenly rose over the sea in the distance. We thought it was just ordinary weather. We didn't realize we'd been fooled." The sailor burst into tears. "When the fog cleared, a massive pirate ship appeared right in front of us. It's only two or three miles from our cruise ship now."
Many people were horrified. They immediately realized that the pirate ship must have a Sea Demon capable of manipulating the weather. That was how it had used the fog to approach unseen and without making a sound.
