"We won!"
Seeing that all the enemies had been killed, Xia Ping finally let out a breath of relief. His boiling blood slowly cooled, though his heart still pounded fiercely, refusing to settle down.
He felt as if he were dreaming. Before, he had been nothing more than an ordinary student at the Martial Apprentice Third Heaven, with little chance of getting into even a third-rate university. The best he could have hoped for was to follow in his father's footsteps, become a city-management officer, and live a quiet life.
But now he had advanced to the Martial Apprentice Fifth Heaven. He had even killed these vicious underworld figures, including a Martial Apprentice Sixth Heaven expert, with his own hands—blowing them apart with a single punch.
It could be said that Xia Ping's strength had made a tremendous leap!
"Hmm? Aren't these recovery potions?" Xia Ping went over and searched the young man in white. As expected, the man had been someone of importance.
After a quick search, Xia Ping found four or five bottles of recovery potion. This kind of potion could replenish a Martial Apprentice Sixth Heaven expert's stamina and restore spent qi.
A single bottle of this recovery potion was worth a hundred thousand Federal Coins. Only the truly wealthy could afford it!
The young man had probably prepared the potions for emergencies. Unfortunately, he never got the chance to use them before Xia Ping killed him.
"There seems to be a manual, too."
Xia Ping also noticed that the young man had brought a martial arts manual with him. It appeared to be called the Universe Three Talents Saber Technique, probably the saber art he had learned. Its power was no doubt considerable.
If Xia Ping sold the manual, it would probably be worth at least a million Federal Coins.
"Go check that warehouse. I think I heard someone screaming."
"No way. Are there enemies in there?"
"Let's take a look. That murderous fugitive may have shown up. We can't ignore the slightest sign of trouble."
Suddenly, shouts came from the distance. The commotion had been so loud that it had caught the attention of the Black Bear Company's patrolling men. A group of them hurried over.
"This is bad. I have to go. I can't stay here, or I'll be done for if they surround me." Xia Ping quickly gathered everything and fled.
Only minutes after Xia Ping left, a group of men in black arrived at the warehouse. They soon found seven or eight bodies of black-clad, burly men lying on the ground.
"Damn it, these aren't Black Bear Company guards. I've seen them at the company before. How did they all end up dead? Who killed them?" one of the men in black exclaimed, horrified.
The others were shocked, too. They knew these black-clad guards were all at the Martial Apprentice Fourth Heaven, and some had even reached the Martial Apprentice Fifth Heaven. Yet they were all dead. The enemy must have been incredibly powerful.
"Look, there's another dead man over there." Another man in black spotted a young man in white lying motionless nearby.
With a whoosh, a middle-aged man rushed over. The instant he saw the young man's face, his expression changed dramatically, and his lips trembled. "Damn it, this is Zheng Hua, Manager Zheng's son."
"No way. Manager Zheng's son?"
"I heard Manager Zheng ordered his son to hunt down that fugitive last night. Is he dead now?"
"It must have been the fugitive. They clashed, and Zheng Hua was killed."
"Zheng Hua was Manager Zheng's only son. Now that he's dead, won't Manager Zheng go mad?"
"This is serious. Report it immediately."
The men in black looked grim. Zheng Hua was a well-known genius. Though still young, he had already reached the Martial Apprentice Sixth Heaven, and his prospects were limitless. He had always been Manager Zheng's pride.
But now this genius was dead, his heart blown apart by a single punch. What a disaster! If Manager Zheng found out, no one could imagine how terrifying his rage would be.
Beep, beep, beep—
The middle-aged man in black immediately took out his communicator and reported the matter to the Black Bear Company. There was no way to hide what had happened. They had to report it at once.
Several minutes later, on the top floor of a skyscraper, Zheng Cheng, a manager at the Black Bear Company, received the news. His vision went black, and he threw back his head and roared in grief and fury.
"Ahhh!!! You dared to kill my son! I don't care who you are, where you're hiding, or how powerful your backers are. I, Zheng Cheng, will kill you and tear you limb from limb!"
Zheng Cheng's terrifying roar sent waves of sound rolling outward. His anguished cry could be heard for ten kilometers in every direction. The rooftop's concrete floor trembled under the sound waves, cracks spreading across it.
The Black Bear Company guards nearby staggered backward in fright, not daring to approach. They were afraid the shock waves would injure them. That would be terrible luck.
"Manager!"
Song Hui looked at Zheng Cheng with concern. What he had feared had finally happened.
"Zheng Hua was my son—my only son!"
Zheng Cheng roared, "I raised him through eighteen years of hardship. Eighteen whole years! I spent countless resources and money on him, all so he could succeed."
"I, Zheng Cheng, am useless. I've only reached the Martial Apprentice Ninth Heaven, and I'm a good-for-nothing. This is as far as I'll ever get. So my son was the only one I could count on!"
"But now he's dead, killed by a traitor. Eighteen years of effort down the drain! Tell me, how could I stomach this? How could I possibly endure it?!"
He was furious beyond measure.
"I couldn't," Song Hui replied solemnly.
"That's right. I absolutely can't endure this!"
Zheng Cheng clenched his fists so tightly he nearly drew blood with his teeth. "Pass on my orders. Send out everyone from the Black Bear Company and seal off the area for a hundred miles. Lock down the stations, too. I want to make sure that brat can't escape, even if he grows wings!"
"He wants to run? I'll seal off the entire area. Let's see where he can go!"
"He killed my son and thinks he can just run away? I'll tell him right now: no chance!"
"Once I catch that bastard, I'll tear him limb from limb. I'll even round up his friends, relatives, and parents and wipe out his entire family!"
He was so enraged he was on the verge of madness. He had sent his son to hunt down the fugitive for the experience, but not only had Zheng Hua gained nothing from it—he had lost his life. How could Zheng Cheng accept that?!
He wouldn't rest until he caught the brat and tortured him until he was barely human.
"Yes, Manager." Song Hui immediately went to pass on the order.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!!!
At once, the Black Bear Company members stationed throughout Black Moon City sprang into action. They appeared on the streets and alleys across the area, and even the stations were filled with their people. They checked every passenger entering the stations, determined to leave the murderer no chance to escape.
There was no denying that the Black Bear Company's influence in this area was enormous. Once mobilized, it could crush everything in its path, leaving nowhere to hide.
