Appearance
Man Faced Spider Emperor
Tang San’s primary form for much of the early narrative is that of a hundred-thousand-year Man Faced Spider Emperor 16 17. Adapted from the original soul beast’s body, this form is a massive spider with a formidable physical presence. Its most distinctive feature is the pale human-face pattern located on the lower abdomen, a characteristic shared with other members of the Man Faced Demon Spider species 46.
- Size and Age: A hundred-thousand-year cultivation level, making it enormous compared to ordinary spider soul beasts 16 48.
- Limbs: Eight long, sharp spider legs used for movement and combat 46.
- Abdomen Pattern: A pale, human-face pattern on the lower abdomen that sways when the spider moves, especially during the species’ courtship ritual 46.
- Coloration: Not explicitly described in the provided context; however, the species is known for its menacing appearance.
- Consciousness: Originally inhabited by a female Man Faced Spider Emperor’s soul, later suppressed and partially coexisting with Tang San’s human consciousness 42 44 45.
- Innate Soul Skill: Possesses a skill that allows it to remain undetected, which Tang San uses while luring Golden Body Douluo away from Heaven Dou City 50.
Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff
After being captured and subjected to reincarnation by Feng Yan, Tang San is reborn as a Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff, a powerful spirit beast with three heads 88 97. This form is canine in nature and shares the body with Tang Hao, who is reincarnated as a male counterpart of the same species 97. The reincarnation process splits the Tang father-and-son pair into separate individuals, each inhabiting a cub of the Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff breed 97.
- Number of Heads: Three distinct heads, each capable of independent thought and movement; Tang Hao’s heads initially fought among themselves before uniting against a perceived threat 97.
- Body Type: Canine shape, described as a “dog” or “mastiff” 97 103.
- Coloration and Details: The species name includes “Scarlet,” implying a reddish coat, but no further chromatic details are provided. Feng Yan gifts a wisp of Golden Flame to evolve the fire of one of the mastiffs’ parents, though no resulting alteration to Tang San’s appearance is stated 89.
- Gender: Tang San is reincarnated as a female cub, while Tang Hao becomes a male cub 97.
- Size: Initially a cub, but described as large and powerful in its adult form; the original Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff is a powerful spirit beast 89 103.
Divine Projection (Sealed)
Tang San also possesses a divine projection form, separate from his soul beast bodies. In the lower realm, this projection manifests the Sea God Trident and represents only a sliver of his divine consciousness rather than his true God-Realm body 6 10. Feng Yan defeats and merges Tang San’s divine projections, intending to place the resulting consciousness in a female soul beast and erase portions of his memories 11. A later projection is sealed into a Blue-Gold Bead and sent to the Lake of Life in the Star Dou Great Forest 88. No detailed physical description is available.
Personality
Tang San’s personality is a complex fusion of profound composure, unyielding resilience, strategic cunning, and overwhelming familial loyalty—traits repeatedly tested by torment, transformation, and loss. Even when captured by the God of Fire Feng Yan or reincarnated into a spider or dog body, Tang San rarely panics; he instead analyzes his situation methodically and clings to his inner discipline. At the same time, his deep love for his parents and children drives him to accept humiliation, endure torture, and maintain a painful cover to protect those he cares about. This emotional core occasionally cracks, especially when shocking truths are revealed, but he quickly regains his footing through sheer willpower. His personality also reveals a dark, calculating edge: he can manipulate allies and enemies alike, execute ruthless plans, and prioritize long-term survival over immediate pride. Beneath it all, he struggles with his own identity—caught between human consciousness and beast form—but consistently chooses action over despair.
- Calm Under Pressure: Tang San remains collected and unsentimental even when facing imminent death, capture, or physical transformation. When Feng Yan first captures his divine consciousness, he stays calm and collected 83; later, while reincarnated as a giant spider, he recites the Tang Sect’s rules to maintain composure 17.
- Resilience and Adaptability: He quickly adapts to radically new circumstances—whether waking as a Man Faced Spider Emperor or a three-headed dog—and focuses on survival and achieving his goals despite confusion and frustration 17 97 100.
- Protective Family Loyalty: Tang San’s foremost driving force is his devotion to his parents and children. He willingly tortures his own father to maintain his cover and protect his mother 87, prioritizes seeing his daughter over his own dignity 100, and shows unwavering concern for Feng Wutong’s safety even in canine form 101.
- Cunning and Manipulative: He demonstrates a capacity for manipulation and strategic deception. He manipulates Yu Xiaogang with calm calculation 9, accepts humiliation from Feng Yan to be near his family 100, and plots contingencies on the Douluo Continent 53.
- Struggle with Identity and Powerlessness: Tang San frequently grapples with his loss of human identity—feeling disgust and hunger as a spider 48, struggling to maintain his own identity inside a beast’s body 17, and accepting powerlessness before deciding to regain control through the Bamboo God’s trial 46.
- Mercy and Restraint: Despite his killing intent, Tang San shows restraint toward Tie Li. He leaves Tie Li with a seemingly fatal chest wound but does not devour him; Tie Li subsequently survives and escapes 48.
- Emotional Vulnerability: His composure can shatter when confronting painful truths. Upon learning the truth about Xiao Wu and Wutong, he completely collapses emotionally 84, and he is caught off guard by his father’s attack during their reincarnation 97.
- Ruthlessness Toward Obstacles: Tang San’s harshness is not confined to enemies. Within the Golden Plaza, he repeatedly kills and resurrects Dai Yuhao during a purported trial, regarding the suffering as necessary experience for growth 82.
- Resourcefulness and Agility: Even in a three-headed dog body, Tang San shows great resourcefulness—evading Feng Wutong’s dangerous cliff training and escaping hostile ambushes 103.
Background
Past Life as Tang Sect's Third Young Master
Before his ascension to godhood, Tang San was originally a master of the Tang Sect in another world, known as the sect's Third Young Master. His memories of this past life—his training in poisons, hidden weapons, and the sect's creed—formed the core of his identity. However, after his divine soul was forcibly reincarnated into a new body by the God of Fire Feng Yan, those memories were deliberately altered; only the recollection of his life as the Tang Sect's Third Young Master remained intact, while all other divine-world recollections were suppressed 17. This selective erasure paved the way for Feng Yan to manipulate Tang San's subsequent actions, appealing to his loyalty to the Tang Sect and his desire to uphold its legacy 42. Even from beyond the God Realm, the ghost of that past life continued to influence his decisions—he spoke of the Tang Sect's "own demise" and saw himself as its true heir 42.
Feng Yan exploited this altered identity directly by assuming the guise of Tang Lan, the Tang Sect’s Grand Elder. Tang San recognized the false elder and remembered that Tang Lan had brought him into the Tang Sect twenty-nine years earlier, allowing Feng Yan to win his trust and direct him toward the Lone Bamboo 42 43.
Godking Era
Tang San rose to become one of the most powerful beings in the God Realm, holding the dual divine positions of Sea God and Asura God. During his reign, he conceived an intricate ten-thousand-year plan that involved the manipulation of events on the Douluo Continent. This grand scheme required careful control, and he enforced it through the use of divine projections sent to the mortal realm 9 13. He regarded Feng Yan’s deployment of Niu Tian and Titan on secret missions as support for this plan 80.
Tensions with the God of Destruction escalated when that god accused Tang San of allowing Yu Xiaogang—the Fart God—to smuggle himself into the Douluo Continent. Tang San denied knowledge of the act to protect his long-term plan, but the God of Destruction brought in a divine official to identify Yu Xiaogang, and Tang San's enforcement powers were temporarily stripped, enraging him and deepening his desire for revenge 13.
His relationship with Feng Yan, the God of Fire, proved pivotal and destructive. Feng Yan initially appeared as an ally, even offering to save Yu Xiaogang's friend Luo Sanpao, but Yu Xiaogang refused to sacrifice his divine position for that rescue 9. Later, when Tang San manipulated Yu Xiaogang into seeking a plan to resurrect Sanpao, Feng Yan betrayed him. The God of Fire struck Tang San's divine projection, sealing it and demanding Yu Xiaogang hand over the Sea God Trident 9. Feng Yan then captured Tang Hao and Ah Yin, imprisoning Tang Hao for ten thousand years and taking Ah Yin as his handmaiden, while sealing Tang San's divine projection into a Blue-Gold Bead and sending it to the Lake of Life in the Star Dou Great Forest 88. This sealing marked the effective end of Tang San's active rule in the God Realm and set the stage for his forced reincarnation.
Reincarnation as Man Faced Spider Emperor
Feng Yan extracted Tang San's divine soul from the sealed Blue-Gold Bead and forcefully implanted it into the body of a hundred-thousand-year-old Man Faced Spider Emperor, a powerful soul beast in the Star Dou Great Forest. To ensure compliance, he altered Tang San's memories so that only his past life in the Tang Sect remained, erasing his divine identity. Tang San awoke to find himself trapped in a grotesque spider form, struggling to adapt to its instincts and sensations. He recalled the Tang Sect's rules to maintain his composure, experiencing confusion, frustration, but also fierce determination. Feng Yan watched with amusement, calculating how to connect Tang San's fate with that of Dai Yuhao 17.
Disguised as the Tang Sect's Grand Elder Tang Lan, Feng Yan appeared to Tang San in the spider's consciousness, guiding him and revealing the existence of a fake Tang Sect on the Douluo Continent. He convinced Tang San that his mission was to purge this heretical sect, thereby appealing to his loyalty and desire for revenge 42. Later, Feng Yan took on the guise of the Bamboo God, testing Tang San's sincerity and resolve before offering him a series of trials 43. The first trial involved a courtship ritual among the Man Faced Demon Spiders, which Tang San's body unwillingly participated in; completing it earned him a God-Bestowed Martial Soul—Blue Silver Grass—though it could only absorb a ten-year spirit ring, a bitter mockery of his former power 46. The second trial required him to destroy the fake Tang Sect in Heaven Dou City. Feng Yan teleported him there, where Tang San massacred the impostor sect master, his wife, and the sect’s disciples, sparing Tang Ya and leaving Tie Li alive despite his grave wound 47 48. In the aftermath, he discovered the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, learning of the “Sea God Tang San” and reigniting his confusion about his own identity 49. The third trial, assigned by the Bamboo God, was to hunt down the Golden Body Douluo, a Title Douluo who had confronted Tang San after the sect's destruction 49.
Through these trials, Feng Yan systematically dismantled Tang San's previous existence and reshaped him into a weapon—a soul beast consciousness with only the faintest echoes of his godhood, driven by a manufactured mission to destroy the false Tang Sect and, eventually, to serve Feng Yan's larger designs.
Reincarnation as Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff
After capturing Tang San’s projection and subjugating the Tang family, Feng Yan chose the Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff for a further reincarnation ritual rather than ordinary dogs, specifically to prolong their suffering 88 89. Feng Yan intended to split Tang Hao and Tang San into six parts and arrange distinct personalities for the resulting forms 89.
Feng Yan ultimately reincarnated Tang San as a female mastiff cub and Tang Hao as a male cub, after taking the original cubs’ souls and promising them future rewards 97. Tang Hao awakened first, became disoriented by his new three-headed body, and attacked Tang San after mistaking the newly awakened female mastiff for an enemy or Feng Yan’s accomplice 97. Feng Yan later gave Tang San to Feng Wutong as a pet under the name Xiao San, placing Tang San in the humiliating position of following his own daughter during her mountain training 101 102.
Abilities & Skills
Divine Powers
- Sea God Trident (Super Artifact): Tang San, as the Sea God, wields the Golden Trident, a Super Artifact of immense divine power. Its presence alone can exert pressure across the Douluo Continent, forcing even powerful beings like Di Tian to kneel 10. The trident can also be used to physically restrain others, such as when Tang San “gagged” Yu Xiaogang with it upon his arrival 6. Tang San’s divine projection manifests the trident, allowing him to interact with the mortal world 10. Yu Xiaogang loses the artifact, provoking Tang San’s fury, but Tang San later retrieves it before preparing to execute Yu Xiaogang 52 54.
- Divine Projection & Consciousness: Tang San can send a divine projection to the Douluo Continent from the God Realm, though it can be sealed by a more powerful god. The projection is only a sliver of his divine consciousness, rather than Tang San’s true body 6. Feng Yan seals and merges his projections before arranging his soul-beast reincarnation 9 11. Tang San’s divine consciousness can also communicate across realms, as seen when he reveals Tang Wutong’s martial soul to Feng Yan 6.
- God-King Pressure: The divine power of a God King is so overwhelming that even a Limit Douluo like Di Tian is forced to kneel, though he quickly rises out of Dragon Clan pride 10. Yu Xiaogang remains kneeling under the same pressure, unable to move.
- Asura God: Tang San also holds the mantle of the Asura God, as referenced by the Golden Dragon King’s desire to destroy both him and the God Realm 75. The extent of this power is not elaborated in the given context, but it places him among the highest divine authorities.
- Unfixed Storm: Tang San uses this advanced technique to trap the God of Destruction temporarily while attempting to evade the Golden Dragon King 77.
- Golden Plaza Trial Power: Tang San can kill and resurrect Dai Yuhao repeatedly within the Golden Plaza, preventing the child from escaping his imposed challenge 82.
Martial Souls
- Blue Silver Grass: Tang San receives this as a God-Bestowed Martial Soul from the Bamboo God after completing the first trial of the Man Faced Demon Spider clan. It is a weak plant-type martial soul that can only absorb a ten-year spirit ring, severely limiting its potential 46. This contrasts sharply with his former Sea God powers.
- Soft Bone Rabbit & Seed of Fire: Tang Wutong’s martial soul is revealed to be the Soft Bone Rabbit combined with the Seed of Fire—a fusion that likely stems from her lineage. Feng Yan learns of this through Tang San’s divine consciousness, implying it carries significant implications for her power and fate 6.
- Dai Mubai: Once a Level 99 Limit Douluo, he falls to Level 93 Title Douluo after injuries, though his specific martial soul is not named in the context 88. His reduced rank still places him among the continent’s elite.
- Golden Body Douluo: A Title Douluo of the Heaven Soul Empire, he possesses the Golden Body martial soul or title, but no further abilities are detailed 49 52.
Tang Sect Techniques
- Tang Sect Rules & Discipline: Despite losing his memories of the God Realm, Tang San retains the core rules of the Tang Sect from his past life, which he uses to maintain his composure as a soul beast. These rules emphasize calmness, resilience, and a code of conduct that prevents him from giving in to bestial urges 17.
- Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record: An ancient manual discovered in the fake Tang Sect. It reveals that the sect’s founder was Sea God Tang San, whose name and authorship cause the amnesiac Tang San to believe that “Buddha Tang” stole both his name and the Tang Sect’s secret arts 49.
- Foundational Techniques: The original Tang Sect, founded by Sea God Tang San, was once a great power with a full suite of techniques, but the sect has since declined. The fake Tang Sect in Heaven Dou City had fewer than twenty disciples, indicating a loss of heritage and skill 48. Tang San’s later actions include destroying this fake sect to protect the true Tang Sect’s legacy.
Soul Beast Abilities
- Man Faced Spider Emperor (Tang San’s Form): After his divine soul is forced into the body of a Hundred-Thousand-Year Man Faced Spider Emperor by Feng Yan, Tang San gains the physical abilities of this soul beast, including immense strength, hunger for human flesh, and spider instincts 17 48. He struggles to control his desire to eat humans, showing that the beast’s nature wars with his human consciousness. He can assert dominance over other Man Faced Demon Spiders, commanding them with authority 47. The body also participates in a courtship ritual involuntarily, demonstrating its sexual and reproductive urges 46.
- Stealth Soul Skill: Tang San uses the Man Faced Spider Emperor’s innate skill to evade Golden Body Douluo’s detection while drawing him out of Heaven Dou City 50.
- Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff (Tang San’s Later Form): In this canine form, Tang San displays remarkable physical agility and resourcefulness. He can evade Feng Wutong’s attempt to force him from a cliff and later avoid Tang Hao’s ambush 103. The form lacks access to his former divine powers but compensates with speed, physical endurance, and animal cunning.
- Man Faced Demon Spider Clan Traits: The Man Faced Demon Spider race, to which Tang San’s body belongs, has a courtship ritual that involves competition among males, with the female potentially devouring the loser. Tang San’s body participates involuntarily, and he receives a reward afterward 46. These spiders are feared soul beasts, often hunted by Title Douluo for their spirit rings, as seen with the Man Faced Spider Emperor being targeted by the Heaven Dou Empire 52.

Plot Overview
Tang San, as the Sea God, engaged in a long-term manipulation of his former teacher Yu Xiaogang, whom he referred to as “Gangzi.” He altered teleportation coordinates to send Yu Xiaogang to the Douluo Continent, gagged him with the Sea God Trident, and later demanded the return of his Super Artifact, the Golden Trident—only to learn Yu Xiaogang had lost it 6 52. Tang San's plan to resurrect Luo Sanpao involved using Yu Xiaogang's divine position, but Yu Xiaogang refused to sacrifice his godhood 9. Eventually, Yu Xiaogang agreed to help without losing his position, only to have his divine power sealed and his martial soul transformed into Luo Sanpao by Feng Yan 14. Tang San's true feelings toward Yu Xiaogang were revealed as cold indifference, and he eventually expressed intent to execute him for his incompetence 10 53. After retrieving the Golden Trident, he instead sent Yu Xiaogang back to the bathhouse associated with his Ninth Trial of the Fart God 54. Yu Xiaogang later became the vessel for the Golden Dragon King's residual will, tasked with avenging its death 79.
The battle with Feng Yan began when Feng Yan, a First-Class Main God and Fire Buddha, betrayed Tang San by sealing his divine projection and demanding the Sea God Trident 9. Feng Yan pursued Tang San's fleeing projection, activating his Divine Domain and cornering him 10. Within the Eternal Ash Realm, Feng Yan overpowered Tang San’s projection, merged his projections, and announced his intention to install the resulting consciousness in a female soul beast while erasing some memories 11. Their conflict escalated in the God Forbidden Land, where Feng Yan revealed he had been watching the Child of Destiny and hinted at the Silver Dragon King's awakening 53. Feng Yan later captured Tang San's divine consciousness and used it to threaten Tang Hao, exposing a long-standing enmity 83. During this period, Feng Yan also manipulated Yu Xiaogang, offering to resurrect Luo Sanpao in exchange for his cooperation, and sealed his godhood 14. Feng Yan's ultimate goal was to break through to the God King realm, but he struggled despite his power 79.
Tang San's reincarnation as a spider occurred when he took control of the Man Faced Spider Emperor's body, summoning all Man Faced Demon Spiders to a bamboo forest 45. Feng Yan appeared in the spider emperor's consciousness space, offering her a chance to become a god, and Tang San, in control, led the spiders to Feng Yan, answering, “Are you ready?” 45. Subsequently, as a reincarnated entity, Tang San destroyed the fake Tang Sect and discovered the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, revealing the existence of Sea God Tang San 49. He then received the third trial from Bamboo God Feng Yan: to hunt down the Golden Body Douluo, with Feng Yan promising intervention if needed 49. He later employed the Spider Emperor’s innate concealment skill to lure Golden Body Douluo out of the city 50.
Tang San's eventual fate was shaped by the Golden Dragon King's escape. He saved the Golden Dragon King from the Sword of Three Realms Judgment, revealing the Silver Dragon King's plan to devour it 75. However, the Golden Dragon King then pursued Tang San, transforming into human form and forcing itself upon him; Tang San used the Unfixed Storm technique to trap the God of Destruction but failed to escape 77. In response, he sent his family—Xiao Wu, Wutong, and Wulin—to the Douluo Continent for safety 74. The God Realm faced Space-Time Turbulence, threatening its existence, and Feng Yan struggled to ascend to God King 79. Tang San's divine consciousness was ultimately captured by Feng Yan, who threatened to harm him, leaving his fate uncertain 83.
Following Feng Yan’s further punishment of the Tang family, Tang San and Tang Hao were reincarnated as Three-Headed Scarlet Demon Mastiff cubs, with Tang San made female and Tang Hao male 89 97. Feng Yan gifted Tang San, renamed Xiao San, to Feng Wutong as a pet 101. Tang San endured her mountain-climbing training and escaped when she attempted to make him “fly” from a cliff, only to encounter Tang Hao’s hostile ambush 102 103.
