Historical Predecessor

Martial Soul Hall maintained an earlier Angel Legion ten thousand years before Xu Yanli’s revival project. It was recognized as a nemesis of Evil Soul Masters; purifying those enemies also strengthened Angel soul masters, which Xu Yanli compares to using them as “Soul Ascension Pills” 50 153.

After Martial Soul Hall fell, descendants of the Angel family were killed or scattered. Survivors withdrew into an isolated valley, concealing their martial souls and avoiding outsiders for ten thousand years. Their elder explains that nobles, powerful organizations, and Evil Soul Masters would hunt them if their identities became known 93 94.

Revival Plan

Xu Yanli initially wants an Angel Legion as a safeguard against the Evil Soul Masters he intends to use covertly. Angel purification would allow him to monitor and restrain them, preventing those hidden assets from becoming an uncontrolled threat. Xu Tianran approves the proposal and entrusts him with its execution 83 88 92.

The search is difficult because Angel martial soul possessors have largely disappeared from public life. Xu Tianran provides information connected to Ye Guyi, and Xu Yanli’s agents eventually locate a remote, unmapped village near the Heaven Spirit Empire’s border. After the villagers expel his guards, Xu Yanli visits personally with Long Xiaoyao providing protection from the shadows 62 91 92 93.

Revealing his Twelve-Winged Angel martial soul changes the villagers’ hostility into hope. Xu Yanli offers protection and resources without promising absolute safety, then persuades the clan to leave its sanctuary. Lezheng Ling accompanies him to Ming Capital as its representative 93 94 95.

Imperial Recognition and Formation

The Emperor accepts the clan’s submission and grants it recognition as a Protector Family. Xu Yanli arranges a residence beside his mansion, cultivation resources through Xiaoyao Pavilion, and a shrine for the statue of the First Generation Angel God 96 97.

The clan relocates under the protection of three hundred Imperial Guards and reaches Ming Capital after three days. At the newly prepared Angel Duke Mansion, Xu Yanli appoints Lezheng Yang as Angel Duke and orders him to lead the clan and form the Angel Legion 102.

Purification Department

Xu Yanli later establishes a two-part campaign against Evil Soul Masters: an official Purification Department operating with imperial authority, and precision strikes by the Angel Legion in the shadows. He retains overall authority while assigning inspections and clearing operations to Lezheng Ling 153.

The initial targets are scattered Evil Soul Masters and smaller factions outside the Holy Spirit Cult. Xu Yanli postpones a direct confrontation with the cult because its deep foundation and Limit Douluo backing would make an immediate attack costly. The campaign also gives the Angel clan a legitimate public role after millennia of concealment 153.
