Background / History
Tang Hao is the father of Tang Yin and Tang Sanmei, and the brother of Tang Yuehua. He is a Title Douluo who has entered Slaughter City and possesses the Slaughter Domain. Despite this power, he initially lives as a neglectful, impoverished father in Holy Soul Village, leaving Tang Yin and Tang Sanmei to endure his harshness and lack of care. 3 8
His past is closely tied to Ah Yin and the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Hao followed an elder's advice to marry the pregnant Ah Yin before returning to the sect; the information was later leaked, drawing Martial Soul Hall into the resulting tragedy. He continues to blame Martial Soul Hall for these events and remains deeply influenced by Clear Sky Sect doctrine and its elders. 23
After learning that Tang Sanmei possesses Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power, Tang Hao becomes proud of her potential and arranges for both children to enter an academy as work-study students. He considers Tang Sanmei destined for the continent's peak and increasingly treats Tang Yin as a resource meant to support her path. 6 23
Tang Hao reveals the Sharp-Tailed Swift to be the inherited martial soul of Tang Yin's maternal grandmother's Bai Clan, whose patriarch Bai He leads the Speed Clan. He first attempts to send Tang Yin to the clan for systematic training, then uses force and his revealed identity as a Title Douluo to pressure him into separation from Tang Sanmei. 23 24
After accompanying Tang Yin to obtain a thousand-year second soul ring and External Soul Bone, Tang Hao sends him away to choose his own destination, advising him to visit Tang Yuehua. 28 30 31 He later repeatedly interferes in Tang Yin's life, enforcing their separation and demanding that Tang Yin use his blood tie to Bai He to restore contact with the four single-attribute clans for Tang Sanmei and the Clear Sky Sect. 70 127
Tang Hao's fixation on the Clear Sky Sect's revival gradually overtakes his remaining moral restraint. He considers exploiting Xiao Wu's hundred-thousand-year soul beast identity to strengthen Tang Sanmei and secretly marks his own daughter to track her movements. 123 124 163 166 By the Clear Sky Sect's destruction, he recognizes too late that the son he neglected and schemed against has ascended to godhood. 215
Appearance
Tang Hao is a tall, weathered man whose presence carries immense pressure even when he is dressed as an unkempt commoner. 22 70
- Often wears a tattered or concealing black robe. 22 126
- Has a scruffy beard and a face marked by age and hardship. 70 126
- Retains heroic facial contours beneath his worn appearance. 70
- His deep, sharp eyes are described as resembling a dark pool. 70
- His aura is compared to a mountain and can make the air feel heavy and stagnant. 70 126
Personality
Tang Hao is decisive, forceful, and accustomed to imposing his judgment on others. When Tang Yin rejects the Speed Clan plan, Tang Hao shifts from consultation to command, insisting that his son must go and should support Tang Sanmei. 23 24
He possesses intermittent affection and pride for his children, showing concern during Tang Yin's dangerous spirit-ring absorption and seeking Tang Yuehua's help when Tang Sanmei's killing intent worsens. 30 118 However, this concern is distorted by favoritism: he consistently views Tang Sanmei as the Clear Sky Sect's future and judges Tang Yin chiefly by his usefulness to her or to the sect. 127 130
His trauma over Ah Yin, resentment toward Martial Soul Hall, and obsession with restoring the Clear Sky Sect make him vulnerable to manipulation. Although he initially recoils from repeating Ah Yin's tragedy through Xiao Wu, he ultimately chooses secrecy and ruthless action for the sect's perceived benefit. 123 124 163
