Infinite Layers of the Abyss
This was an endless, suffocating land of terror.
This was a place of exceptionally harsh environments and exceptionally dangerous life.
This was a land without morals or ethics, where slaughter never ceased.
This was an evil land where friendship, familial love, and romantic love had never existed—only betrayal, slaughter, and destruction.
The Abyss was the most famous and terrifying Lower Plane in the multiverse, without question. It was the beginning of all death and destruction (evil alignments only emerged after the War of Creation), and it was also the destination of chaotic evil.
At the same time, it was the beloved and loathsome homeland of all demons. Here, all the ugliness, evil, and chaos of the multiverse was reflected and gave rise to corresponding demons.
For example, succubi hatched from desire, Glabrezu were born from jealousy, Alkilith were bred from sloth, and so on.
It could be said that so long as intelligent life still existed, demons would be endless. That was the terror of the Abyss: it could never be defeated or destroyed. The entire multiverse could only forever face the threat of the Abyss.
As for the Abyss itself, many scholars had conducted countless studies, but no one could glimpse its full extent—for instance, exactly how many layers the Abyss possessed. Ordinary scholars put the number at 666, but in truth, those were merely the layers that had been recorded. Countless others had never been discovered.
Beyond the number of layers, another major subject of debate was the Will of the Abyss.
