Kostchtchie's anger was innate, something even he could not control. It had caused him no small amount of suffering—for example, suddenly losing control when he should not have been angry. This had troubled Kostchtchie for a long time.
It was not until he uncovered the secret of the Black Ice Rift that he found a temporary solution.
The Black Ice Rift was a massive fissure located beside a black iceberg several hundred miles from the heart of Kostchtchie's territory. Kostchtchie discovered it sometime after Graz'zt had begun implementing his "disguise" plan. The twenty-mile-long, pitch-black, bottomless crack greatly intrigued him. After an expeditionary party he sent into it vanished without a trace, Kostchtchie finally decided to investigate it himself.
At the bottom of the rift, Kostchtchie found the enormous frozen corpse of a long-dead demon lord, roughly six hundred feet in length. He sensed immensely powerful psychic waves emanating from the corpse, and only through the strength of his will did he avoid being driven mad by them. His subordinates were not so fortunate. They attacked one another and ultimately tore each other to pieces. The dead demon lord's memories flooded into Kostchtchie's mind like a tide, and he learned the corpse's history.
The dead demon was named Veshvoriak.
He had once been a powerful Obyrith lord who controlled an entire layer of the Abyss. After being killed by his own kind, his corpse had been hurled violently into the Iron Wastes, eventually creating this vast rift. From then on, whenever venting his rage through violence failed to soothe his anger, Kostchtchie would come here. He had discovered that reading the memories of this Obyrith lord could actually calm his fury. It was through these memories that Kostchtchie learned of Obox-ob's existence.
