Demogorgon had many servants. Some were mortals from various worlds, while others were ancient monsters, such as aboleths, creatures that had existed since primordial times. (According to the Book of Aberrations, aboleths were far older than dragons. When aboleths began to multiply across the primitive worlds, dragons had yet to appear in the multiverse.)
Yet Demogorgon's primary servants came from the Abyss. Though not every demon regarded him as its master, the overwhelming majority, however unwillingly, still acknowledged Demogorgon as the "Prince of Demons." Many demons had tried to oppose Demogorgon, but most of them were eventually influenced by him and willingly became loyal slaves to the Prince of Demons.
Among Demogorgon's servants, the highest-ranking was Belcheresk (Belcheresk, chaotic evil male balor warrior), perhaps Demogorgon's most suitable successor. Belcheresk commanded Demogorgon's legions. This vast army consisted of countless demons, monsters, half-fiends, and creatures from other planes—it was enormous at any given time.
Even now, after Demogorgon's fall, his forces remained immense. Back when Demogorgon was active, however, only a relatively small force was stationed in his lair, the Gaping Maw. Most of them were death knights under Demogorgon's command.
Demogorgon himself was more intimidating than any army. In those days, no one dared confront an enraged Demogorgon head-on—not even in overwhelming numbers!
The remaining millions of troops were stationed on other layers of the Abyss, ready at any time to receive new orders from the Prince of Demons. And that was not even the entirety of this army. Another portion had gathered in the Lower Planes, waging the endless Blood War against the devils.
And Belcheresk was the one responsible for leading those forces into battle!
