A demon Lazbral'thull had never seen before came to his cage. At first, Lazbral'thull did as he always had, trying every possible way to entice the demon into serving him.
But to Lazbral'thull's surprise, the other party had no interest whatsoever in any of his temptations. Instead, he firmly proposed a deal.
A deal Lazbral'thull could not refuse!
That person promised Lazbral'thull freedom, while Lazbral'thull would have to pay the corresponding price.
Lazbral'thull did not even bother to haggle. He agreed at once! Then the other party told him to swear an oath upon the River Styx.
Lazbral'thull nearly burst out laughing.
This was the Well of Darkness. Other than the rules of this place, every other rule was excluded—even those of the River Styx! In other words, swearing an oath upon the River Styx inside a Well of Darkness prison was a complete joke. He could simply go back on it whenever he pleased.
So Lazbral'thull promptly swore the oath. It was as vicious and as stringent as could be, practically the same as selling himself into slavery.
But very soon, Lazbral'thull could no longer laugh...
After the unfamiliar demon made Lazbral'thull swear the oath, he readily set him free. The instant a mysterious power pushed aside the black water, Lazbral'thull discovered that he had gained more than freedom—there was also a shackle imposed upon him by some unseen force!

Lazbral'thull did not even know how to describe his feelings. But he soon had no time to worry about such nonsense, because the instant the cage opened, the guards had already sprung into action.
When Lazbral'thull tried to find that unfamiliar demon again, he discovered that the figure in the tattered cloak had already vanished.
