The devils had been keeping a close eye on the situation in the demon war zone, and events unfolded exactly as they had hoped. The demons' unrest grew more and more intense. What had originally been conflicts between just a few fortresses spread like a plague across the entire demon-occupied territory. War was everywhere! Faced with this dream scenario, the higher-ups among the devils were practically grinning their teeth off.
Before long, some among the devils proposed immediately sending troops to deliver a massive blow to the demons while they were too busy dealing with themselves.
But this suggestion was quickly suppressed, because the devils wanted to play an even bigger game! To devils, no matter how things turned out, they would not lose out. If it worked, they would make a huge profit. If it failed, they would merely miss an opportunity. Naturally, the devils' leaders were willing to gamble under such circumstances! Even if they failed, the person in charge would not bear much responsibility, because he had not lost anything!
The Blood War was a long-term process, not something accomplished overnight. Temporary gains and losses meant nothing. Even without this opportunity, there would certainly be another next time. So even if they truly lost this chance, it would not be fatal for the person in charge. At most, he would be reprimanded or barred from promotion for a time. There was indeed risk involved—but what if he won the bet?
Then he would truly strike it rich! Even if he ultimately occupied little territory, as long as he killed enough demons, not a bit of the reward due to him would be withheld!
When the risk was far lower than the reward, anyone knew which choice to make, much less the even greedier devils.
Thus, the devils
