The Slaughter Cult was an evil cult that had risen to prominence in recent years. It worshipped a name that had vanished from the continent long ago—the Bhaalspawn.

During the later years of the Time of Troubles, the Bhaalspawn had left behind countless infamous deeds. It could even be said that Bhaal, the God of Murder himself, had never unleashed such a massive tide of slaughter upon the continent, yet his offspring had accomplished it.

Having foreseen his own fall, Bhaal, the God of Murder, had sown his seed throughout the mortal realm long before the Time of Troubles began. This powerful deity had left his bloodline among countless races of the Prime Material Plane, including humans, orcs, elves, gnomes, gnolls, lizardfolk, vampires, dragons, and nearly every intelligent race. He had hoped to use these offspring to achieve rebirth. Though he had ultimately failed, the terror brought by the Bhaalspawn had endured across the continent to this day.

As time passed and the divinity Bhaal had left within the bodies and souls of these Bhaalspawn began to awaken, they started slaughtering one another under the call of fate or bloodline. They were like a swarm of venomous insects raised in a jar—every Bhaalspawn had to fight the others and devour the divine power contained within them. In the end, a single ultimate powerhouse would emerge, one who had consumed every other Bhaalspawn. To defeat their own brothers and sisters, they began frantically creating slaughter in order to catalyze their divinity. And Bhaal, the God of Murder, would be reborn through that
