Hetao's expression changed. "Master, don't let your imagination run wild!"
She knew her master's temperament was flighty, and she truly feared that her master might imitate Azure Demon King Ma Bin and start committing all manner of evil. He had lived so long surely not because "a scourge lasts a thousand years," but because he possessed some secret method of his own.
"How presumptuous!" Nan Lian said airily. "How can a disciple speak to her master like that? Apologize!"
"Master, I'm sorry!" Hetao promptly apologized.
"It is you who wronged your master, not your master who wronged you!" Nan Lian looked at her.
"Yes, yes, yes. It was this disciple who wronged Master." Hetao nodded repeatedly.
Lu Ye and Yu Yaorao watched from the side, dumbfounded. They could only feel that the bond between this master and disciple was truly wonderful.
"Forgive the spectacle." As Nan Lian spoke, she rubbed Hetao's head, as though her disciple truly were an insensible little child. "What were we talking about just now?"
Lu Ye hurriedly picked up, "Ma Bin is very old!"
Nan Lian nodded. "This Ma Bin—I do not know what grudge he has against those realms. By all reason, at his age, everyone who bore a grudge against him should have long since died clean out. They say disaster should not extend to the third generation, yet he refuses to let go and keeps his eyes fixed on other people's descendants. Then again, he has his own principles when it comes to killing: he kills none but Sunlight cultivators. That is rather interesting too."
Hetao was still somewhat terrified. "Master, we really don't have any grudge against Ma Bin, right?"
"If we had a grudge, would I still dare stand here?" Nan Lian shot her disciple a look.
Only then did
