Sensing Lu Ye's gaze, the woman looked up at him, then quickly lowered her head again, her expression nervous and uneasy.
Before coming here, Gong Mao had specifically instructed her on a few matters. Though unwilling, she was a slave of the Battle Arena and had no way to refuse any of its arrangements.
"What should I call you?" Lu Ye asked.
The woman hurriedly replied, "Cuican."
Lu Ye raised his brows slightly. "Thank you."
He roughly understood who this woman was. She was likely the one who had previously arranged his opponents. After he had mentioned that matter last time, Gong Mao had transferred her over to see him off, and this time had specifically arranged for her to receive him.
Yet from beginning to end, Gong Mao had never brought it up himself. He probably only wanted to use this opportunity to build a better relationship with him.
Cuican was slightly stunned, as though she had not expected Lu Ye to thank her. But she was no fool and quickly understood what he was thanking her for. Lowering her head again, she said softly, "You honor this servant too much. It is merely this servant's duty."
Lu Ye nodded faintly. "I don't need anything here. You may leave for now. I'll call if I need you."
Gong Mao's intention in leaving Cuican behind was already obvious, but Lu Ye had no such thoughts.
Cuican gave a graceful bow. "Then this servant shall take her leave."
After walking out of the room and gently closing the door, she let out a long breath.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye. Lu Ye never left his room, while Cuican stood quietly outside the door, waiting at all times for his orders.
There was a light knock at the
