The slave who had won only moments ago had truly become a paper man. His features were all intact, his limbs were complete, and his vitality had not diminished in the slightest, but his form had become a thin sheet.
"Is anything wrong?" Lu Ye asked.
The slave shook his head. "Reporting to you, sir, nothing is wrong."
Lu Ye nodded. It seemed just as Mirage had said: this was its territory, and everyone's life and death were under its control. So even if they were smashed into paper men or cut into several pieces, there would be no danger to their lives.
This had to be another extraordinarily ingenious illusion technique.
"Brother Ye, I understand now." You Die leaned closer and whispered, "Those three incantations correspond to three treasure forms. From what we've seen, the three treasure forms counter one another. The Gold Silver Scissors counter the Sky Covering Net, the hammer counters the Gold Silver Scissors, so the Sky Covering Net must counter the hammer."
Lu Ye's expression became inexplicably complicated. "This game is called Rock Paper Scissors!"
Just how bored was this Mirage fellow, to find even this sort of game endlessly entertaining? Lu Ye had thought it would have some lofty, sophisticated game in store, and had remained wary and uneasy the whole time.
"Rock Paper Scissors?" You Die considered it. "A simple and fitting name."
Judging from the previous two rounds alone, it was entirely a contest of luck. Under Mirage's methods, neither side in the duel knew what form their opponent would reveal, so there was no way to predict or guard against it. In that case, both friend and foe had an even fifty-fifty chance of winning.
There was certainly no way for Lu Ye's side to tamper with anything. As for Mirage...
