That was not all. Red-skinned creatures the size of human children suddenly appeared along the edge of the Susanoo.
The moment they arrived, the creatures, their necks bound by chains, let out piercing howls. Wisps of ghostly energy poured from their bodies.
When that energy touched the chakra-formed Susanoo, even its rock-hard surface began to erode. Explosive Tags could scarcely breach its outer defenses, yet the ghostly energy was eating through them.
As his captive creatures shrieked, the bloodlust in Kidomaru's eyes grew brighter and more deranged.
His prey was almost within reach, pulled close by the giant. Yet at this crucial moment, his frenzy drew his thoughts back to the past.
There had once been a god
who was weak himself,
yet had told Kidomaru something he had rarely heard: live however he pleased.
He could suppress his oni nature and gradually settle into human life, or surrender completely to the path of an oni and let his joyous urge to kill run free.
Humans and wicked oni alike deserved lives of their own.
All that mattered was being happy.
Because of those words, Kidomaru had finally cast off the restraints of his half-human blood and that old man's endless lectures about humans and yokai living together. In that paradise of Asura, crawling with wicked oni, he had found a reason to live!
