Background / History

Nawaki is Tsunade's younger brother and the grandson of the First Hokage. Mito Uzumaki regards watching Tsunade and Nawaki grow up safely as one of her remaining responsibilities. 6

When Minato Namikaze moves into Tsunade's home as her disciple, Nawaki initially declares that Minato is effectively his younger brother and promises to look after him at the Academy. The claim is quickly overturned when Minato defeats him instantly in their speed test. 7 8

Despite recognizing the disparity between them, Nawaki continues to treat Minato as both a close companion and his greatest rival in the pursuit of becoming Hokage. His ambition is rooted in protecting Konoha and inheriting the First Hokage's will. 15 24

Personality

Nawaki is innocent, straightforward, and warm-hearted. He immediately agrees to let Kushina Uzumaki stay in Tsunade's home and enthusiastically introduces himself to her. 25 27
