Yu Tianheng felt like he was being underestimated. He rolled up his sleeves and lined up three apples on the table.
"If you can't do it, don't push yourself!"
"Push myself, my ass! It's only a few steps away. I just have to control my Soul Power and smash a single apple. How hard can it be?"
"Just watch!"
Yu Tianheng copied what Ling Yun had done. He raised his hand, gathered Soul Power in his palm, then thrust it forward.
The first apple shattered into small pieces and struck the second apple. The second apple split into two small pieces and one large piece. Carried by their momentum, the fragments hit the third apple, denting it. It rolled away, and Shi Mo caught it.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk! Got egg on your face now, huh?" Ling Yun said mockingly.
Yu Tianheng was utterly embarrassed, and looked rather angry with shame. "That was an accident. I'll try again. I'll definitely get it this time."
"Go ahead!"
They quickly set out a new batch of apples. This time, Yu Tianheng concentrated especially hard, gauging how much Soul Power to release. Once he was sure he had it right, he fired another blast of Soul Power.
"Crack!"
A crisp, brief sound rang out. The first apple broke apart, and the second apple did too. The third apple rolled away.
The first two apples hadn't broken into such tiny pieces, but overall, the result wasn't much different from the first try.
It was like an ordinary person holding a twig and swinging it at the tips of the flowers and grass along the road. Hitting only the very tip wasn't as easy as it seemed.
It took years of practice to hit exactly where you aimed—not a fraction more, not a fraction less.
In the living room, Yu Tianheng was completely worked up. "I don't believe it! It must've been an accident. Again!"
On the third try, the first apple didn't break at all. It only dented slightly. Then, carried by its momentum, it struck the second apple, which hit the third. They all rolled toward Shi Mo, and he caught them.
"How is that possible? Again!"
"Hold it. If you keep this up, I won't have any apples left to eat."
"You two should try as well."
Shi Mo and Shi Mo nodded. Having seen Yu Tianheng's example, they gave it their full attention. No matter what, they couldn't do worse than Yu Tianheng.
After arranging the apples, Shi Mo stepped back three paces. He gathered pale yellow Soul Power in his palm, then fired a blast.
The first apple split into three pieces and struck the second. The remaining force of the Soul Power blast hit it too, splitting the second apple into two. The third apple rolled three times before coming to a stop.
"Not bad. Your Soul Power control is clearly much better."
Shi Mo gave Yu Tianheng a smug look. Yu Tianheng glared back. "It's not that different. Let's talk after you meet the requirement!"
Shi Mo didn't argue with Yu Tianheng. He gave up his spot so Shi Mo could try.
Shi Mo's performance was about the same as Shi Mo's.
"Twins really are different! Your control over Soul Power is about the same, but neither of you is all that good."
"Any of you three could easily smash all of them to pieces. But based on what you just did, you'll probably need a month or so of practice. And this is only the easier stuff."
"I've told you how. Use fruit, rocks, bowls—whatever you want. Go practice!"
After speaking, Ling Yun washed the few apples that were still in decent shape and juiced them. He couldn't let them go to waste.
The three left the dorm and went to the living zone, where they swept up every last apple. They were all persistent, strong-willed geniuses. The moment they encountered a difficulty, their first thought was how to overcome it.
After they left the living zone, the students who came later hoping to eat apples all went away disappointed.
In Dormitory 206, Yu Tianheng, Shi Mo, and Shi Mo set up apples and trained together, competing with one another.
Ling Yun, meanwhile, went into the bedroom to meditate and cultivate.
At dusk, Ling Yun stopped cultivating. His entire body had recovered, and the mental energy he'd spent on Soul Fighting was completely replenished.
His Soul Power had recovered long ago. Compared to his mental energy, it came back at the speed of a rocket.
He walked out of the bedroom. A pile of apple fragments lay in the corner, and all three of them were completely focused, as though Ling Yun didn't exist.
Ling Yun didn't disturb them. He nodded to himself. With this kind of concentration and drive, no wonder they were talented students.
They had talent and were willing to work hard. Their futures looked bright!
Ling Yun quietly opened the dorm door, closed it behind him, and headed straight for the academy dining hall.
"Ling Yun! It's Ling Yun!"
"My idol!"
"Idol, where are you going? I'll show you the way!"
"..."
He hadn't gone far before he was surrounded. A large crowd of students gazed at him with adoring eyes.
Some of the little kids from Heaven Micro Grade were even more excited. They actually called him Boss Ling Yun. Anyone who didn't know better would've thought he was the leader of a gang.
"Look, it's the Education Committee!"
Ling Yun pointed in one direction. Everyone else instinctively looked where he was pointing. He took the chance to make a run for it, vanishing within a few breaths.
"Where's the boss?"
"Where's Ling Yun?"
"..."
The crowd of students looked from one to another, completely at a loss as to what had happened. Things had taken a rather unexpected turn.
After finally making it to the dining hall, Ling Yun was surrounded again.
"Student Ling Yun, here to eat?"
"Come on, come on. It's my treat. Order whatever you like."
"Ling Yun, look at me! Look!"
"Look at my curvy figure and pretty face. Share a table with me, and the food will taste even better."
"Go on, get out of here. You're trying to rob the cradle. I'm the one he likes."
"Brother Ling Yun, you beat that female brute Zhang Weiwei. We brothers have to thank you. This meal is on us."
"..."
The crowd clamored around him. Ling Yun's head was about to explode!
"Stop!"
"You're making this really difficult for me!"
"I can feel your enthusiasm, and I'm grateful! But you're seriously disrupting my meal!"
"Please give me some space. Thank you!"
After Ling Yun finished speaking, most of the crowd willingly left and ate elsewhere. A small group still refused to budge.
"Don't get us wrong. We won't bother you while you eat. We just want to repay you and thank you for letting us vent our anger."
"That woman Zhang Weiwei has bullied us plenty of times. Seeing her lose to you today was so satisfying. We've been waiting here for ages."
"Yeah! Just give me this chance!"
The group stared at him eagerly, as if they were about to burst into tears if Ling Yun refused.
"We're all students at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. Let's not say things that could hurt our unity."
"It was just a match. Anything can happen."
"Student Zhang Weiwei may be a bit blunt, and perhaps she didn't take everyone's feelings into account, but I believe she'll change after this."
"From now on, we should get along and help each other improve!"
One of the students chimed in, "As long as you accept our offer, whatever you say goes!"
The rest nodded in unison, united in their stance, and stared at Ling Yun.
"Fine, fine! I accept!"
To keep this crowd from causing more trouble, Ling Yun gave in. They were a little too crazy.
