Gyles's face instantly lost all color, turning as pale as paper.

He seemed to have had all the strength drained from his body. He stumbled backward and crashed into the chair behind him.

Pointing at Suleiman, he trembled all over and cursed with all his strength. "You... you're a venomous snake! A snake from the shadows! The vilest snake of all!"

"The Seven will punish you!! Your soul will be roasted in the Seven Hells for ten thousand years!!"

"I curse you in the name of the Seven!! The Warrior curses you to die by the sword!! The Father curses you to die a horrible death!! The Mother curses you to have no children!!..."

He roared, each god's name trembling with despair.

"You'll go to the Seven Hells!!"

"You'll be hacked to pieces!!!"

"Your name will be reviled forever!!!"

"You're no lion! You're a venomous snake!! The Riverlands' venomous snake!!!"

Suleiman stood and slowly walked over to Gyles. Leaning down, he spoke in a voice as soft as a devil's whisper, right beside Gyles's ear. "Ser, your curses are useless against me."

"Before you consider taking your own life to preserve your ridiculous honor and reputation, I advise you not to rush into it."

His gaze drifted toward the window, indicating the direction to Gyles. Legg. Gyles looked over. That was where his family was being held under house arrest.

"If you die."

"If you die with the name of a traitor still hanging over you."

"What will happen to them?"

Suleiman's voice paused, letting the silent threat fester in the air.

"Think carefully about your wife. Think about your two lovely daughters, and your youngest son, still babbling and in need of his father's protection."

"You don't need to consider suicide, either. Think about what will happen to them."
