Rosso Brune gasped for breath as he watched several burly men hurry over to help Colin up from the ground.
He turned to Suleiman, his voice filled with disbelief and astonishment. "My lord... what... what kind of men are these?"
He had truly thought all forty of them were ordinary soldiers. Yet even an ordinary soldier under Suleiman's command had such terrifying skill. He had struggled terribly to win.
Suleiman smiled. Pointing to Colin, who had just been defeated, he introduced him to Rosso. "This is Colin."
"Whenever he fought for me on House Legg's lands, he was always the first to charge forward. He's scaled the walls of enemy castles five times and has personally taken more than twenty enemy heads."
Colin picked up the sword from the ground and bowed respectfully to Suleiman. Then he lowered his head and silently returned to the ranks. While everyone's attention was elsewhere, he slipped to the very back of the line. It was too embarrassing.
Suleiman then pointed to a burly man carrying a longbow and holding a training sword, a smile on his face. He was also one of Bryn's ten brothers. "This is Anguy, an archer with a longbow."
"He's killed thirty-seven enemies for me."
As soon as Suleiman finished speaking, Anguy seemed to hear a summons.
He lowered his training sword, smiled, and took the longbow from his back. He drew an arrow from his quiver, nocked it, and took aim. The arrow flew.
Rosso Brune's eyes widened as he watched the arrow slice through the air with a sharp whistle and strike a branch of a tree two hundred paces away. The fletching still quivered.
He couldn't help swallowing. Hitting a target from two hundred paces was the sort of distance only a master archer could manage.
