Iruka, the chief examiner, took out the Clipboard and File Cards and handed them to Mizuki. "Mizuki, you'll handle the records. Is that okay?!"
"Of course, Iruka~ After all, you're our esteemed chief examiner today." Mizuki, the assistant examiner, responded with a gentle smile and a teasing tone.
"What do you mean, esteemed chief examiner?! Stop teasing me, Mizuki. I know you're better than me~"
Iruka said sheepishly, "I don't know why the Third chose me, either. I was pretty surprised."
Those were humble words, but why did they sound so much like a humblebrag? It felt as though he was showing off.
"Hehe~ You're too modest, Iruka. The Third choosing you proves you have something special..."
"Has someone been talking behind your back? Who?! Tell me, and I'll sort him out for you..."
A flicker of jealousy crossed Mizuki's eyes. Bastard~ Why did he get to be chief examiner? How am I any worse than Iruka?
