"Naruto, this is our little secret. You mustn't tell anyone, or we won't be able to surprise Iruka." Mizuki made sure to sweet-talk Naruto into keeping quiet.
Naruto nodded obediently. "Don't worry, Mizuki-Teacher. I won't tell a soul. I want to surprise Iruka-sensei too, and make everyone see me in a new light."
He thumped his chest loudly.
Mizuki felt even more relieved at that. "Good. You really haven't let me down, Naruto. Iruka is lucky to have such a wonderful student. Even this Teacher is getting a little jealous."
Naruto scratched his head sheepishly. "Hehe! Mizuki-Teacher, I'm not as great as you make me sound!"
His goal had been achieved.
Mizuki couldn't be bothered to stay any longer.
"Well, Naruto, I'll head home and wait for your good news." Mizuki immediately stood up, said goodbye, and left.
Naruto assured him, "Don't worry, sensei. Leave it to me. I go to Grandpa Hokage's office all the time. I know it like the back of my hand!"
Mizuki grew even more excited inside, but kept his expression calm. "Good. I knew I was right about you."
He buttered Naruto up again to spur him on.
Naruto burst into a smug laugh.
"Hahahahaha! That kid really is an idiot. So easy to fool." Mizuki walked away looking thoroughly pleased with himself.
He secretly gloated:
Once that brat Naruto brings me the Scroll of Seals, I can get out of here immediately!
Once I learn the secret techniques inside, I'll rise to the pinnacle of the ninja world and trample all of you underfoot!
