Yuki Yuichi returned to the classroom, where the first thing he saw was Yuhi Kurenai's worried gaze.
Seeing her expression, Yuki Yuichi smiled, gently embraced Yuhi Kurenai, and patted her little head.
"There, there. It's okay."
The others around them looked as if they'd just eaten something disgusting.
Uchiha Obito glanced at Nohara Rin, envy in his eyes.
He wanted to be like this with Rin, too!
Uchiha Obito thought to himself. Then he looked at Yuki Yuichi, who was holding Yuhi Kurenai, and ground his teeth in silent frustration. Yuki Yuichi, you were born evil!
Nohara Rin watched the two of them, feeling a little envious as well. She glanced at Kakashi Hatake, who stood nearby with a dark expression, then looked at Uchiha Obito and smiled at him.
"By the way, what are you all doing here?" Yuki Yuichi asked curiously after stepping away from Yuhi Kurenai. "School's out. Shouldn't you be going home?"
"Everyone was a little worried about you," Yuhi Kurenai explained beside him, noticing their gazes and blushing. "So they all waited here for you."
Hearing Yuhi Kurenai's words, Yuki Yuichi paused and looked at the others, feeling a little touched. He explained, "It's nothing."
"The teacher just asked where we went this morning."
"From now on, we just have to come to the classroom before lessons in the morning, and then we can go train." Yuki Yuichi smiled at everyone as he spoke.
"But we still have to come to class in the afternoon."
"Really?" Uchiha Obito's eyes widened, and he grew excited.
"Of course." Yuki Yuichi nodded, then spread his arms and grinned. "Anyway, we're free!"
"Hahahahaha!"
Watching him, Kakashi Hatake sighed. He didn't know why he'd been feeling a chill down his back, but this was still a good thing.
Now they could skip class openly.
Not bad.
They chatted happily for a little while, then everyone headed home.
As they walked, Yuhi Kurenai glanced at Yuki Yuichi, hesitated, then finally asked, "Yuichi, is something wrong with Kakashi?"
"Hm? Why do you ask?" Yuki Yuichi looked at her in surprise.
"Because you kept looking at Kakashi while you were talking," Yuhi Kurenai said seriously, pressing her index finger against her lower lip.
"Yuichi only does that when he's setting a trap for someone."
Having grown up with Yuki Yuichi, Yuhi Kurenai knew him even better than she knew her own father.
Hearing her words, Yuki Yuichi put an arm around her shoulders and said with a grin, "It's not like I was setting a trap for him."
"It's just that the teacher thought Kakashi had led us astray."
"I noticed that was what the teacher thought, so I went ahead and said Kakashi had taken us to the training ground."
Seeing Yuki Yuichi's grin, Yuhi Kurenai couldn't help laughing, too.
"Yuichi, you're so naughty~"
"Do you like that?"
"Mm... I do..." Yuhi Kurenai lowered her head and nodded like a little quail, her voice barely audible.
When the two returned home, Yuhi Shinku was already waiting at the dining table.
"We're home!" x2
Hearing them, Yuhi Shinku looked toward the door. When he saw the two of them, he smiled.
"You're back?"
"You two are later than you were yesterday."
Yuhi Shinku turned to Yuki Yuichi and put on a fierce expression. "You must've been dawdling on the way, you brat!"
"Dad!" Yuhi Kurenai puffed out her cheeks and pouted. "Don't say that about Yuichi!"
The fierce look on Yuhi Shinku's face froze.
Weren't daughters supposed to be their fathers' little treasures?
Why was his own different?
Yuhi Shinku began to doubt himself.
Yuhi Kurenai wasn't so much his little treasure as she was that brat Yuki Yuichi's.
Yuki Yuichi gave Yuhi Shinku an awkward but polite smile, then plopped down at the table without hesitation under the gaze of his future father-in-law.
"I'm starving," Yuki Yuichi said, rubbing his stomach.
He hadn't eaten much at noon, just enough to get by. By now, he was famished.
Seeing that he really was hungry, Yuhi Shinku said no more and brought out the food.
"Eat up."
At the sight of the food, Yuki Yuichi's eyes lit up red. He looked as though he hadn't eaten in ages and wolfed down his meal.
Seeing him, Yuhi Shinku turned to his daughter, puzzled. He furrowed his brow. "What happened to him?"
Yuhi Kurenai was eating too, her mouth full as she mumbled, "Yuichi and Kakashi fought, and it took a lot out of him."
Yuki Yuichi had Uzumaki Clan blood, and his body was naturally strong. But greater strength also meant greater energy consumption.
So he ate more than the average person.
On top of that, he'd used up a lot of energy fighting Kakashi Hatake, and he hadn't eaten much at noon. Naturally, he was famished by now.
Even Yuhi Kurenai was eating much more than usual today.
She'd practiced ninjutsu all morning, and using ninjutsu consumed chakra, whether or not the technique succeeded.
Chakra was created from the energy in the body's cells and spiritual energy, so using it also consumed physical and mental energy.
Practicing ninjutsu all morning was no less strenuous than intense exercise.
Throughout the meal, Yuhi Shinku gradually learned what had happened that day from Yuki Yuichi and Yuhi Kurenai.
After they finished eating, Yuhi Kurenai rubbed her little belly, looking satisfied. But when she looked at her father, she seemed puzzled.
"Dad, aren't you going to eat?"
Yuhi Shinku hadn't eaten. Seeing how much Yuki Yuichi and Yuhi Kurenai had eaten, there wouldn't be enough left if he ate too.
But he couldn't say that, so Yuhi Shinku immediately smiled and said, "I already ate before you got back."
Yuki Yuichi had finished eating by then, and unlike Yuhi Kurenai, he wasn't that easy to fool.
He looked at the bowl and chopsticks in front of Yuhi Shinku. "Don't lie. You haven't eaten yet."
Yuki Yuichi glanced at the empty dishes on the table, scratched his head, and looked at Yuhi Shinku sheepishly. "How about we go out for ramen?"
"No need," Yuhi Shinku refused, then added, "I really have eaten."
"I was going to have a little something with you, but after seeing how much you ate, I changed my mind."
Yuhi Shinku smiled at Yuki Yuichi, as if praising his perceptiveness.
"Next, we're going to study!"
"Chakra nature transformation and shape transformation!"
