Background
Qin Xin was the Qin Family's once-in-a-century genius and the person who carried much of the family's responsibility. She entered Imperial University at sixteen through special admission, became a junior at the same age Lan Qingxin was a freshman, and had previously been both a top student and campus beauty. Despite this, she had spent her efforts supporting her younger sister, Qin Wenrou, and was betrayed by both Wenrou and her boyfriend, Lan Yingjun. 1 2
Qin Wenrou imprisoned Qin Xin in an ice coffin beneath a frozen lake and drained her blood. Qin Xin lost consciousness while refusing to accept death, swearing inwardly to pursue vengeance against those who had wronged her. 1
Her soul awakened in the body of Lan Qingxin, a frail nineteen-year-old adopted daughter of the Lan household. The original Lan Qingxin had died after a car accident sent her into the Ice Lake; she had been treated as an unattractive, unintelligent, sickly failure and was only an auditing student at Imperial University Medical School. Qin Xin resolved to seek justice for both herself and Lan Qingxin while concealing the truth of her rebirth. 2
After discovering her own funeral at the Qin residence, Qin Xin witnessed Qin Wenrou's hypocrisy, Madam Qin's passivity, and Qin Xiaoshuang's refusal to accept her death. She also learned that Madam Qin had intended to marry her to a member of the Nalan family without her knowledge. 37 38 40
Appearance
Before her death, Qin Xin had jade-white skin, delicate features, a heroic bearing, and short hair. In Lan Qingxin's body, she initially appears thin, sickly, and unremarkable, with long black hair, sallow skin, and a conspicuous dark-green mark across her right forehead. 2 5
- Lan Qingxin's face has an oval shape, gentle brows, and large clear eyes beneath the damaged complexion. 5
- Qin Xin determines that the apparent birthmark is linked to chronic heavy-metal poisoning and treats it with her own prescription. 11
- The medicine gradually restores the body's pale, porcelain-like complexion and fades the green mark, revealing that Lan Qingxin is naturally beautiful. 13 32
- To avoid attention, Qin Xin later uses rare reagents as cosmetics to deliberately recreate an even sallow complexion and dark-green facial mark. 37
- She often carries or wears Winter Chrysanthemums and initially keeps thick gauze and long hair over her forehead to hide the rapid change in her appearance. 13 17
Personality
Qin Xin was once overly yielding toward those close to her, particularly Qin Wenrou. Her death and rebirth leave her far less willing to compromise; she becomes direct, proud, coldly humorous, and determined to expose betrayal rather than endure it quietly. 1 31
She remains composed when insulted or threatened, often responding with blunt questions or calculated retaliation rather than visible panic. Although she is dismissive of status, gossip, and physical appearance, she is protective of people who treat her sincerely, especially Xiangxiang and the original Lan Qingxin whose body she inhabits. 8 25 32 50
Her confidence does not erase her vulnerability. Dreams involving an unidentified brutal man frighten her, and seeing Qin Xiaoshuang defend her at her own funeral deeply affects her despite her outward indifference. 31 40
Abilities & Skills
Medical Research and Surgery
Qin Xin is an elite medical researcher whose work is known internationally under the name QUEEN.
- Developed and published research on BMP-16, a bone-protein breakthrough that drew widespread academic and corporate interest. 23 34
- Correctly identifies the medical explanation for the absence of postmortem greening in a body whose blood vessels were emptied before death. 44
- Detects that Lan Qingxin's facial discoloration is likely caused by chronic heavy-metal poisoning and formulates a detoxification prescription. 11
- Receives high-paying requests to perform surgery through the Red Society and agrees to operate anonymously for selected patients. 34 36
- Refuses to sell her BMP-16 work despite an offer worth billions, preferring to continue the research. 34
Chemistry and Cosmetic Disguise
Qin Xin applies medical reagents and prescriptions for both treatment and concealment.
- Uses costly medicinal ingredients to treat Lan Qingxin's complexion and forehead mark. 11 13
- Acquires more than twenty rare imported reagents through Hong Jingtian. 37
- Turns those reagents into a cosmetic disguise that restores the “ugly monster” appearance others expect from Lan Qingxin. 37
- Keeps her improving appearance hidden because sudden changes could compromise her plans and draw Nalan Ye-Jue's attention. 32
Tactical Thinking
Qin Xin consistently turns accusations back on her opponents through preparation and evidence.
- Produces infirmary footage overlooking the lakeside to prove that Yao Dazhuang's group attacked her first. 9
- Forces the aggressors' families to compensate her four hundred thousand yuan and demands that the responsible students withdraw instead. 9 10
- Uses the compensation money to purchase medicine rather than treating it as a significant personal windfall. 12
- Sees through the public image Qin Wenrou maintains and intends to expose her sister in Qin Xin's own identity. 5 40
Physical Training and Self-Defense
Qin Xin has combat training, though Lan Qingxin's body initially limits what she can do.
- Catches a snowball thrown at her wounded forehead and confronts the students who attacked her. 3
- Practices the Eight-Section Brocade and Five-Animal Exercises to regulate the frail body's condition. 15
- Attempts to use her combat skills against the man in her recurring dreams, but finds herself physically overpowered. 31
- Her current body's congested meridians and poor strength leave her exhausted after even brief confrontations early in her rebirth. 5
