The Ministry of Industry's hundred-odd plans were reviewed and passed by Parliament in the span of a single day. If word of such efficiency got out, the nations of Europe would probably refuse to believe it—but this was simply the normal working efficiency of the Bulgarian Parliament.
Everyone had work to do. Opposition for opposition's sake simply could not happen in Bulgaria. The political parties Ferdinand had suppressed back then had long since vanished into thin air.
The Bulgarian people of today did not care what you had to say. If you wanted to run for Parliament, first show them what contributions you had made to the country. The loudmouth parties had long ago become unable to survive!
On August 13th, the meeting continued. Today's review concerned agriculture, and as usual, chairman Rolex Dodd stepped onto the podium.
"The meeting is now in session. Today's subject for review is the agricultural development outline submitted by the Ministry of Agriculture. Its main contents include:
1. A plan to add ten million tons of grain production capacity nationwide, with increased construction of water conservancy projects in key grain-producing regions; (Budget: 650 million lev)
2. Promoting innovation in agricultural science and technology, improving the public-interest agricultural technology extension system, developing a modern seed industry, and accelerating agricultural mechanization; (Budget: 360 million lev)
3. Improving the modern agricultural industrial system, promoting large-scale cultivation and breeding of horticultural products, livestock products, and aquatic products, accelerating the development of facility agriculture, agricultural product processing, and distribution industries, and promoting specialized agricultural production and operations; (Budget: 120 million lev)
4. Developing water-saving agriculture in Iraq and Syria; (Budget: 100 million lev)
5. Promoting the cultivation of cash crops, such as cotton, coffee, roses, grapes, and so on; (Budget: 80 million lev)
6. Implementing a minimum guaranteed price
