Toneri strode into the formation hall, his gaze arrogant and his nose tilted skyward, clearly not taking the five people before him seriously at all.
It was not that he was targeting anyone in particular.
In Toneri's eyes, the only people in the entire world worthy of being called strong were himself and Lin Qing.
Everyone else was merely trash with undeserved reputations.
Toneri glanced at Kakashi, who was still trying to activate the teleportation formation, and sneered.
"Stop struggling. Only my chakra can activate this teleportation formation."
He swept his gaze around once more.
"Where is Lin Qing?"
"He did not come himself and merely sent a few pieces of trash like you here to die?"
Thinking of the brightly lit Ninja World, Toneri pondered for half a second before realizing. "Heh—so that's how it is. Lin Qing cannot leave the Ninja World.
"Idiot! What a complete idiot!
"For a bunch of lowly wretches, he burns away his own life, leaving him no choice but to send you here, sneaking in like a pack of rats in an attempt to reverse your desperate situation.
"But sadly..."
Toneri raised his hand, and two spinning balls of chakra appeared in his palm.
"You will die."
"Lin Qing will die."
"Every human in the Ninja World will die."
Toneri laughed wildly.
Suddenly, he heard the pattering of footsteps behind him. Turning around, he saw Hinata run over to Naruto and help him to his feet.
"Naruto, are you alright?"
Then she saw the bloodstains on Naruto's body—Hidan's blood—and her eyes instantly reddened as tears streamed uncontrollably down her face.
She rose to her feet, assumed the Gentle Fist stance, gathered her courage, and shouted at Toneri.
"Don't you hurt Naruto! If you want something, come at me!"
Toneri chuckled.
