Uzumaki Kuming watched Madara Uchiha use Wood Release to block his two waves of attacks, and he was somewhat surprised. Wood Release was certainly powerful, but ordinarily, normal Wood Release should not have been able to withstand Uzumaki Kuming's attacks. The fact that Madara Uchiha could do this meant that, during the time they had not seen each other, Madara Uchiha had grown stronger again.

Using the rebound from the wooden shield, Uzumaki Kuming controlled the Nine-Tails and leaped sharply backward, widening the distance between himself and Madara Uchiha.
