Tiger Tooth Squad

Moving through the narrow alleys, Gao Feng led the way. The few scattered monsters they encountered were quickly dealt with.

Half an hour later, the group reached Haihao Hotel in the town's southwest and quietly settled on the rooftop of the eighteenth floor.

Captain Gao Feng clapped his hands. Once everyone's attention was on him, he smiled and said, "Haha, you all did great this time. Chen Gu's shot was fantastic, and our two new members did well too. Luo Zhe especially stood out—he got me and Zhang Ke out of trouble twice in a row!"

Luo Zhe smiled and waved a hand, saying nothing.

Luo Feng's gaze lingered on Luo Zhe for a long time.

Gao Feng continued, "Also, this Bloodthirsty Tank was a Junior Beast General. It was one of the more difficult monsters to hunt among the Junior Beast General-level beasts, so we made a tidy profit this time. I didn't expect us to find such a prize on the very first day. That's a great start. I reckon we'll bring in quite a haul over the next month."

Everyone laughed. What else would they be risking their lives to hunt monsters for if not to make more money? Taking down such a big beast on the first day was certainly something to celebrate.

"Since we have new members, I'll go over how we divide up the spoils. In our squad, they're distributed according to everyone's contribution in battle. We'll work out the final shares once this hunt is over and we return to the Supply Base."

As he spoke, Gao Feng's expression suddenly turned serious. "And I need to remind everyone to stay alert. This is a densely built-up area, and it's where the monsters nest. There are a lot of Beast General-level monsters throughout the county, so don't let your guard down. If you get into trouble, we'll be in a real mess. Plenty of warriors die every year, after all!"

Luo Zhe and the others nodded in response.

Warriors who ventured into the Wilderness Zone faced a very high death rate!

Seeing how tired everyone looked, Gao Feng said no more. He waved a hand. "We've all used up a lot of energy fighting just now, and we were on the road all last night. Get some rest. We'll set out again at four this afternoon!"

While the Fire Hammer Squad rested in hiding on the rooftop of Haihao Hotel, the Tiger Tooth Squad, which had appeared earlier at the Supply Base, also showed up in the city of County 0201.

The Tiger Tooth Squad was very famous among the warriors of Jiangnan City! The squad had six members: two used firearms, while the other four wielded melee weapons. The six of them cautiously made their way through a dilapidated alley, where even the walls had partly collapsed. The alley was littered with the dismembered remains of monsters.

"Stop!" The Tiger Tooth Squad's captain, Tiger Tooth—Pan Ya, a short, wiry middle-aged man—raised a hand, and the others stopped.

The captain spoke in a low voice. "Listen up, everyone! We have only one target this time: that wounded Silver Moon Fierce Wolf! So, don't go picking fights with other monsters along the way. Avoid them if you can, and run if you have to. It's best not to fight them. If we trigger a monster frenzy, our mission will be in trouble!"

The other five members of the Tiger Tooth Squad nodded solemnly!

Earlier, while hunting monsters, they had stumbled upon a notorious wolf-type monster known as a Hunter! Before the Great Nirvana Period, pigs, dogs, cats, cattle, and sheep had been the most common animals in human society. As a result, most monsters today were pigs, dogs, cats, cattle, sheep, and snakes. Monsters mutated from foxes, monkeys, scorpions, wolves, tigers, and leopards were extremely rare.

Wolves, tigers, and leopards were especially terrifying because they were strong by nature. After mutating, nearly every one of them was fearsome. And wolf-type monsters bred quickly, so over the decades, warriors had often encountered them.

The Hunter was a particularly terrifying mutated wolf species, known as the king of the wolf pack—the Silver Moon Wolf Clan!

Unlike other wolf monsters, which always appeared in packs, nearly every Silver Moon Fierce Wolf lived alone. It liked to hunt other monsters and human warriors, and was known for its cunning, treachery, and savagery. That was why humans called it a Hunter!

Of all the Silver Moon Fierce Wolves discovered so far, the weakest had been Intermediate Beast General-level. And every single one could fetch an astronomical price!

If a Silver Moon Fierce Wolf were in its prime, the Tiger Tooth Squad wouldn't dare provoke it, even if it were only Intermediate Beast General-level. What was more, the one they were pursuing was an Advanced Beast General, a super-beast that was even close to Lord Level!

Fortunately, the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf had already been seriously wounded before it fought the Tiger Tooth Squad. That was why Tiger Tooth had been able to wound it again when they first clashed. The miserable state Zhang Zehu had been in when Luo Zhe and the others saw him at the Supply Base was actually the result of his fight with the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf.

"Captain, don't worry. This isn't our first mission. We'll be careful," Zhang Zehu replied confidently. He had long since removed the bandages, and his wounds appeared to have healed.

Tiger Tooth—Pan Ya—spoke in a low, cold voice. "That old bastard gave us a rough time last time. This time, we've all healed up and recovered our strength. We have to seize the opportunity and kill it in one go!"

"Yes, Captain." All six members of the Tiger Tooth Squad were eager for a fight! Killing a Hunter would be worth a year or two of their usual hard work.

A Silver Moon Fierce Wolf—and an Advanced Beast General at that—was worth far more than dozens of Junior Beast General-level monsters.

"One more thing... When we catch up to the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf, remember this: it's already badly wounded. Two or three more attacks should be enough to kill it. I'll say it again: under no circumstances should you fight it head-on! If it really goes all out, at least one or two of us will die!"

Everyone's expression turned grave, and they nodded solemnly.

It was an Advanced Beast General-level monster, and a member of the royal wolf species, the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf. Even wounded, if it went berserk and retaliated without regard for its own life, it could easily kill most of the Tiger Tooth Squad.

"We'll keep wounding it, keep it bleeding, and wear it down!" Pan Ya smiled confidently. "An area the size of a county like this is unlikely to attract a War God-level warrior squad. There are probably only a few squads in the entire county, and ours should be the strongest. We don't have to worry about anyone stealing our prey!"

Most powerful War General-level squads operated in city districts, where there were more challenges and more Beast General-level monsters roaming alone!

For instance, the Fire Hammer Squad had come to this county for one reason: two new members had joined the team!

Otherwise, the Fire Hammer Squad would have gone to a city district, not a county like this.

"Captain, what if a warrior squad really tries to fight us for it..." said a one-eyed middle-aged man in the squad, frowning.

"Don't worry."

Zhang Zehu chuckled beside him. "Even we don't dare push that Hunter too hard! Most of the warrior squads in this county are Warrior Level. It'd be good if they had even one War General-level member. Do they really think they can steal the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf? It would rip them to pieces in an instant."

"Mm."

The Tiger Tooth captain nodded. "They can't take the Silver Moon Fierce Wolf from us. If anyone tries... kill them!"

"Yes!" The other five nodded.

"Move out." The Tiger Tooth Squad captain waved, and the six members immediately continued forward in silence.

The Wilderness Zone was nothing like a Base City!

A Base City was a human-controlled city, where there were laws and a government in charge!

But the Wilderness Zone was monster territory, a place of darkness, chaos, and bloodshed. All sorts of brutal things happened there. Warrior squads often fought among themselves over the remains of a monster worth a fortune! Of course, it was usually the stronger squads that took prey from the weaker ones.

Many warriors in the Wilderness Zone died to monsters, but plenty also died at the hands of other warriors.

The strong preyed on the weak; only the fittest survived!

The law of the jungle had never disappeared. It had merely been buried deep beneath the rules that governed human Base Cities. In the Wilderness Zone, far from human control, bloody slaughter was the prevailing rule!
