First Encounter with Umbrella Corporation

"Angela!"

"Angela! If you can hear us, come out and leave with us!"

"Are you... here to find me?"

Ren Ze had just finished dealing with the child zombies when he heard everyone calling out. Angela crawled out from beneath a nearby desk on her own, walked up to Ren Ze, and looked up at him as she asked.

"You're Angela?"

The little girl was quite calm, neither panicked nor afraid.

"Yes!"

Angela nodded, then looked at Ren Ze and said, "I think we need to leave quickly, while they haven't come back yet!"

"Hm? They?"

Hearing Angela's words, Ren Ze subconsciously frowned. "The ones you're talking about should be Zombie Dogs, right?"

"I don't know what they're called!"

Angela shook her head. "But they really are terrifying. Um, they look a little like dogs before they turned into zombies!"

"Then that's them!"

Ren Ze nodded, then smiled at Angela. "Don't worry. With me here, even Zombie Dogs won't be a problem!"

"Okay!"

"She's deeply infected! But she probably won't turn into a zombie, just like me!"

Alice looked at Angela, then spoke to Ren Ze.

They headed out along the classroom corridor. Just after passing through a long hallway, they saw several zombies wandering around ahead. Turning around, they found people dressed in Umbrella Corporation uniforms.

"You're with Umbrella Corporation?"

After hearing the gunshots, Alice and Jill saw Carlos, who was dressed like an Umbrella Corporation mercenary, standing across from Ren Ze. They immediately raised their guns and aimed them at him.

The man did not seem bothered in the slightest. He merely shrugged at Ren Ze. "I'm Carlos. I used to work for Umbrella Corporation, until they left us here to die. I imagine we're here for the same reason. The doctor called me and asked me to rescue his daughter, Angela, but he never told me there were others."

"Are you alone?"

Ren Ze looked at Carlos and asked.

"I had another companion. He went to search the other floors."

Only after hearing Carlos say that did everyone lower their weapons.

"In that case, call your companion and let's leave first. We don't have much time!"

Ren Ze looked at the group and spoke.

But the moment his words fell, gunfire erupted from downstairs, followed by a man's scream.

Carlos's expression changed. His injury was aggravated, and he coughed several times. In the end, he truly was the only one left in his squad.

"How long ago were you bitten?"

Ren Ze noticed something was wrong and asked.

"About three hours."

"Today's your lucky day!"

Ren Ze shrugged, then walked over to Angela. He took the green Anti-toxin Serum from her bag and injected it into Carlos.

"This thing has an antidote?"

Jill looked at the scene before her in surprise.

Angela then explained the truth: the T-Virus and the Anti-toxin Serum had originally been medicines developed by her and her father to treat a genetic disease, but Umbrella Corporation had taken them away.

Just as everyone left the school, they received a call from the doctor, telling them that the last helicopter was at City Hall.

Elsewhere, a young Umbrella Corporation executive walked into the doctor's tent. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I really don't know whether I should thank you or punish you. Did you think I never knew about your little tricks? I simply happened to need you to lure Ren Ze into my encirclement. Take him away!"

"I have a question!"

After Alice finished her call with Dr. Ashford, Carlos could not help but ask, "Based on Umbrella Corporation's usual methods, I don't believe that if Dr. Ashford called us, those people from Umbrella Corporation wouldn't know about it!"

"After all, Umbrella Corporation isn't an ordinary company. Its foundations are far beyond anyone's imagination. So I believe City Hall may very well be an Umbrella Corporation trap!"

"Why would they set a trap? Could it be specifically to wait for us?"

Hearing Carlos's words, Jill frowned. "According to you, you and your teammates were an exceptionally capable combat squad, yet Umbrella Corporation abandoned you without hesitation. That proves even your impressive combat ability was beneath their notice!"

"Then why would Umbrella Corporation suddenly place importance on just the few of us? Among us, the number of people capable of fighting doesn't even add up to the size of a single assault squad. So I don't believe Umbrella Corporation would deliberately set a trap just for the few of us."

"Besides..."

Jill ruffled Angela's hair and looked at the others. "Don't forget, Dr. Ashford's daughter is still with us. Do you think he doesn't know that Raccoon City will be destroyed after dawn?"

"He definitely knows. Since he knows that, and since he cares so much about his daughter, I don't think he'd gamble with her life!"

Hearing Jill's words, Alice nodded. "I agree with Jill. The only way out is City Hall, but Carlos is right too. There's a high chance Umbrella Corporation has set an ambush at City Hall because they want to capture the few of us alive!"

"After all, both Ren Ze and I are targets Umbrella Corporation considers extremely important. You could tell that from Nemesis—they at least wanted to capture Ren Ze alive!"

After saying that, Alice looked at Ren Ze and asked, "Ren Ze, what do you think?"

As Alice asked, everyone turned their eyes toward Ren Ze. Clearly, they were all waiting for him to make the decision.

Seeing everyone looking at him, Ren Ze fell silent for a few seconds before suddenly smiling. "Everyone, do we still have any choice?"

"We all know what Raccoon City will face after dawn. So what we're facing now isn't a question of how to choose—it's that we have no choice!"

"So whether City Hall is an Umbrella Corporation ambush or not, we have to go. It's our only chance to get out of Raccoon City!"

As he spoke, Ren Ze swept his gaze across the group, taking in every expression.

"If it were just me, then even if Umbrella Corporation completely surrounded Raccoon City, I could still leave easily. If it were just Alice and me, the two of us could break through without much trouble!"

"In fact, when Umbrella Corporation closed the gates on Black Gate Bridge, Alice and I had the chance to force our way out directly. At that point, Ren Ze made his decision. "So whether there's an Umbrella Corporation trap at City Hall or not, we have to take the risk!"

Ten minutes later, inside a tent at the plaza outside Raccoon City Hall.

"Sir, the targets have appeared. They're about to enter City Hall's controlled perimeter!"

"Very good!"

The young Umbrella Corporation executive nodded. "If we can capture Ren Ze alive, it should offset the losses caused by this bioterror disaster!"

"But sir, that Ren Ze is extremely dangerous. His strength is unknown, and capturing him alive will probably be difficult. Even Nemesis wasn't his match. I'm afraid—"

"No buts!"

Hearing his adviser's words, the young executive curled his lip. "No matter how strong he is, he's only one man. So what if Alice is helping him? I've already assembled five helicopters, over a hundred special operations soldiers, and a fully armed Nemesis. I refuse to believe we still can't catch him this time!"

Looking at the confident executive, the adviser's lips moved, but in the end, he did not voice his objections. Since his superior had already made the decision, there was little he could change. Saying more might only endanger himself.

Outside City Hall, Ren Ze looked at the five helicopters circling overhead and knew he was about to face a fierce battle.

"Alice, I'll go in through the front and draw their attention. Go to the high ground and take out the snipers. Everyone else stays outside. Once I have the situation under control, come over and board the helicopter to evacuate!"

"Be careful!"

Those who had witnessed Ren Ze's strength all reminded him at once. Those who had not, seeing that no one else had anything more to say and having no better ideas themselves, could only silently pray for Ren Ze.
