Background / History

Kami retrieves Goku from King Yemma's palace after his training is complete, returning him to Earth during Vegeta and Nappa's attack. Korin gives him a Senzu Bean and sunglasses before Goku rides the Flying Nimbus toward the battlefield. 12

Goku arrives while Soro is repeatedly using the Flash Technique against Vegeta. The light overwhelms even Korin's sunglasses, blinding Goku and causing him to crash the Flying Nimbus into a cliff. After learning that Soro drove off the invading Saiyans, Goku judges him to be a likely ally and thanks him, though he is disappointed to have missed a fight with Vegeta. 15 16 19

Following the battle, Goku joins the effort to revive Chiaotzu through Namek's Dragon Balls. He asks Bulma to install a gravity-training device in Soro's ship and later challenges Soro to a spar; despite transforming and attacking at full speed, his punch is stopped by one of Soro's fingers. 20 21 22
