At first, Hyuga Shin had high expectations for the Tenseigan's X-ray vision, but after using it, he realized it could only see human meridians and chakra flow, leaving him sorely disappointed.
"Little Shin, do you have any money? If not, I can lend you some, but you have to pay me back!"
Standing in front of the gambling table, Tsunade said excitedly.
"No need, I still have some money."
He took his last remaining funds out of his wallet, glanced at the excited Tsunade, and muttered to himself, "Big Sister Tsunade, whether I'm living the high life or hitting rock bottom depends entirely on you."
Although Hyuga Shin possessed Observation Haki, he had never played dice before and didn't know how to cheat, so he could only rely on Tsunade's luck.
"Tsunade really has a lot of money! That must be several million ryo!" Watching Tsunade pull money from a storage scroll, a trace of envy flashed in Hyuga Shin's eyes.
"Since it's your first time, just follow my bets and you're guaranteed to win."
"Heh~" Hyuga Shin chuckled. If he followed her bets, he'd probably lose the shirt off his back.
After seeing Tsunade place her bet, Hyuga Shin followed suit, placing his last ten thousand ryo on the opposite side of hers.
"Little Shin~ don't you trust me?" Tsunade said indignantly.
She had clearly told him to follow her lead, and she was a bit annoyed that he didn't trust a veteran gambler like her.
Hyuga Shin opened his mouth, not knowing what to say. He wanted to trust her, but her track record was too terrifying; he simply couldn't bring himself to do it.
Hyuga Shin turned his head away, choosing to pretend he hadn't seen anything.
Sure enough, when the results were revealed, Tsunade lost as expected, while the ten thousand ryo in Hyuga Shin's hand had turned into fifty thousand, a five-fold increase.
This delighted Hyuga Shin; if he was ever broke in the future, he could consider bringing Tsunade to the casino to make some money!
"Big Sister Tsunade, who owns this casino?"
"Hm? Why are you asking that?" Tsunade, in a bad mood from losing, asked suspiciously.
"Nothing, just curious."
"This casino is led by the Sarutobi Clan and the Shimura Clan, with other major clans holding shares. Well, except for the Uchiha Clan." Although suspicious, Tsunade answered him anyway.
"This place has quite the background," Hyuga Shin remarked, continuing to gamble. As long as it wasn't owned solely by the Shimura Clan, he was fine.
Otherwise, if that old schemer Shimura Danzō saw him winning too much, he might send someone to assassinate him.
Though he felt he might be overthinking it—Shimura Danzō probably wouldn't kill someone over a bit of pocket change—Hyuga Shin didn't trust the man's character.
Even if Shimura Danzō was eventually "whitewashed," in Hyuga Shin's eyes, black was black, and no amount of washing would ever make it clean.
By the afternoon, Tsunade had lost all her money and had even borrowed five hundred thousand ryo from Hyuga Shin.
"Little Shin, lend me another five hundred thousand. I have a feeling I can turn it all around next time," Tsunade said, her voice frantic, looking every bit the gambler who had lost her mind.
"Big Sister Tsunade! Small bets are for fun, big bets hurt the body, and reckless gambling ruins families!" Hyuga Shin couldn't help but advise.
Looking at her state, even giving her a few hundred million wouldn't be enough to cover her losses.
"I feel like I can win!"
Do you have no self-awareness? If you actually won, you'd probably be the one crying, Hyuga Shin thought to himself, then put his money away and walked out of the casino.
With no money left, a frustrated Tsunade had no choice but to follow him out, where she immediately grabbed Hyuga Shin and started ruffling his hair to vent her anger.
"You brat, you didn't even help me, and you didn't trust me either," Tsunade said, feigning ferocity, though it had a certain charm given her beautiful face.
Hyuga Shin looked up and said gloomily, "If I had trusted you, we would have been kicked out empty-handed long ago. Don't forget the five hundred thousand ryo you owe me; you have to pay that back."
"I know," Tsunade replied, her eyes darting away.
Seeing her expression, Hyuga Shin knew she had no intention of paying him back.
Forget it, consider it a fee for her services. Without her, I wouldn't even have been able to get into the casino, Hyuga Shin thought, acting magnanimous.
In reality, he was crying inside. It wasn't that he was a miser, but he had been poor for two years, and losing such a large sum of money suddenly was genuinely painful.
"Pfft!" Seeing Hyuga Shin's crestfallen face, Tsunade chuckled and pulled out a scroll, handing it to him.
"Consider these ninjutsu a sale to you."
Hyuga Shin took it, stunned, and said excitedly, "Thank you, Big Sister Tsunade!"
"No need for thanks between us. From now on, you're my little brother. If anyone dares to bully you, just tell me, and I'll get revenge for you."
"Got it!" A smile appeared on Hyuga Shin's face.
Although he didn't fear anyone, he appreciated her gesture. Hyuga Shin's emotional intelligence wasn't high, but it wasn't non-existent either.
"Since you won so much money today, shouldn't you treat your big sister to a good meal?"
"Of course! I only won so much thanks to you, Big Sister Tsunade!"
Suddenly, Hyuga Shin realized he had misspoken. He meant to thank her for bringing him to the casino, but it sounded like he was saying he only won because she lost.
"Thwack!"
Tsunade tapped Hyuga Shin on the head and laughed, "Don't worry, I'm not that petty. I have some self-awareness regarding my own gambling luck."
Seeing that Tsunade wasn't angry, Hyuga Shin relaxed, though he thought to himself, That's just you saying that now! Once we're at the table, you're a completely different person.
Arriving at a snack shop with Tsunade, she ordered some fried chicken, a plate of tricolor dango, and a pot of sake, tucking in with abandon and ignoring her image entirely.
Since Tsunade had already cast aside her decorum, Hyuga Shin was even less concerned with his, stuffing his mouth until it was completely full of food.
"Eat slowly, no one is going to snatch it from you."
"Mmph."
His mouth was already packed so full that speaking was a struggle, and it took him a long while to finally swallow.
"Eating like this is faster; I'm already used to it."
When Hyuga Shin trained, he did so with a reckless disregard for his own life, which was why he had developed such a rapid pace for eating.
In truth, if not for his Sage Body, that kind of life-risking training regimen would have crippled him long ago.
After finishing their meal, the two parted ways, as the Senju clan estate and the Hyuga clan estate were in completely opposite directions.
Upon returning home, Hyuga Shin first took the sealing scroll he used to deceive others out of his System Inventory to check how much pocket money he had managed to rake in.
