Alliser Thorne opened his mouth. "Lord Commander, the Night's Watch ought to demand that the southern lords cease their civil war and join forces against the White Walker invasion."

Old Bear shrugged. "The problem is that the southern lords all think the Night's Watch is joking. You should know that well, shouldn't you, my instructor?"

Alliser Thorne sneered. "Even if we threw a living Wight right in front of them, I would never believe they'd put resisting the White Walkers first. They will always care more about fighting for the Iron Throne."

Tyrion turned back toward Alliser and suddenly grinned. "Ser Instructor, if you can persuade King Stannis to marry Queen Regent Cersei later, I guarantee the wars of the Seven Kingdoms will end at once, and everyone will obediently come here to fight White Walkers."

Alliser Thorne sneered. "I don't believe a pack of usurpers could be so noble."

Then he pointed a finger at Tyrion. "Lannister, you are the spawn of a usurper. I don't believe in your loyalty to the Night's Watch either."

Tyrion spread his hands and smiled tightly. "You're absolutely right. The entire Seven Kingdoms knows that Lord Tywin loves his dwarf son most dearly. Please remain vigilant."
