Lion's Cage

The Lioness loved her children. Perhaps she loved Joffrey a little more, but she loved Tommen no less.

But...

Two sons... two kings... both had been bewitched by Little Rose, and both had argued with their mother for that woman.

A faint ache stirred in the Lioness's heart.

"Tommen, have you started questioning your mother?"

"No, Mother. I was questioning those septas..."

"Clearly, you also suspect them of keeping things from me. Tommen, you disappoint me."

Hearing that his mother was disappointed in him, Tommen hurriedly explained, "Mother, I truly didn't mean that..."

A smile appeared on his mother's face that Tommen could not understand, and he began to tremble.

"What are you afraid of? A king fears nothing, Tommen."

Tommen stood obediently, not daring to look at his mother, and began to sob softly.

After studying Tommen for a while, Cersei sighed and reached out to stroke his hair. "King Tommen, I am your mother. You have no right to command me, understand?"

Tommen lowered his eyes, sniffed, and said softly, "I understand, but..."

Cersei frowned. "But what?"

After a pause, Tommen gathered his courage and looked at his mother. "I want to save Margaery. She told me that everyone must obey the king."

Cersei's breasts rose and fell beneath the water as her last shred of patience ran out.

"Guards!"

With a bang, the bathhouse door was pushed open, and two Lannister Red Cloaks strode inside.

"Until you come of age, I rule the realm. Tommen, today I shall teach you another lesson. Let me show you what true power is."

Cersei spoke coldly to the guards standing behind Tommen. "My son is unwell. Take him to his chambers to rest. Without my command, no one is permitted to see him, nor may he summon anyone."
