Cao Yue followed behind in a gentle, moon-white dress, carrying a delicate woven bamboo basket. At the sight of Lu Heng, she looked somewhat uneasy and worried.
"Why are you running off again?"
Cao Ying rushed to the stone table in a few quick strides, planting both hands on her slender waist, her delicate brows bristling.
"I just went to deliver medicinal ingredients to my teacher, and I heard you asked him about the Beast Region. You're actually planning to go into that savage wilderness alone?"
"Have you gone mad? Do you have any idea how dangerous the Beast Region is?"
"There are no rules there at all! Those hulking brutes who eat raw flesh and drink blood hate human alchemists more than anyone. You only just tore down Ice River Valley in the Northern Region. Can't you stay put in Saint Dan City and rest your feet for a while?"
Cao Ying scolded him like a machine gun, her barrage of words leaving Lu Heng unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Cao Yue gently tugged Cao Ying's sleeve, signaling her not to speak so harshly.
Then Cao Yue set her bamboo basket on the stone table and gently lifted the cloth covering it, revealing several plates of delicate spirit cakes fragrant with medicinal herbs.
"Junior brother, Ying'er is only worried about you."
Cao Yue tried to dissuade him gently.
"The powers deep within the Beast Region are tangled like roots and branches. I've heard the clan elders say that even when peak seventh-grade alchemists from the Pill Region led teams in to gather herbs, many of them perished there."
