Her reaction was exactly the same as Raven's. First, she was puzzled by these people who seemed like memory imprints, then her attention was drawn to what they were gathered around.

Mei felt as though she were in a dream, dazed and directionless. After hearing the fragmented conversation, she hesitantly dragged her feet toward the crowd.

The tongues of flame were like demons from hell, twisting around every window of the mall. Orange-red fire scorched everything in sight, while murky smoke gradually drove away the white clouds.

As if sensing something, she walked to the very front and looked at the small figure standing at the edge of the crowd.

He stared expressionlessly at the mall being swallowed by the blaze. The flames illuminated his face, and the heat had turned his skin bright red.

Then he seemed to notice something. He turned his head, and his eyes met Mei's.

Those hollow eyes made Mei's body tremble.

It was difficult to describe what those eyes contained.

Mei saw no sadness in them. No—there was no emotion at all in those pitch-black pupils. They were like mirrors meant only for looking, and when she gazed into their depths, all she could see was herself.

That gaze gave her a sense of Déjà vu, making her think of someone.

Soon, the firefighters came and took the boy away, placing him inside a vehicle before hurrying back to fight the fire.
