At the thought of it, besides nervousness and guilt toward her friend, Mei also felt a strange thrill.

The two returned to Moon Base. No one found it strange that they had disappeared for a night. Even Kevin and Kiana thought nothing of it. Leaving Lin aside, it was perfectly normal for Mei to be away for a day. She was one of the captains of the few remaining squads in Schicksal.

The search for Griseo continued. Kevin kept in contact with Mei, while Lin and Mei temporarily stayed at Moon Base. That temporary stay lasted an entire month.

No one knew what had happened that day. Mei often ate and chatted with Kiana and Lin, watching them play games. Only when her eyes occasionally met Lin's would Mei give a slight shudder.

During the day, they were normal friends, but the nights that belonged to her were far too few and far between.

"Mei, have you been feeling unwell lately?"

"Huh?"

Mei had been lost in thought when the silver-haired girl sitting across from her suddenly spoke up. She came back to herself and saw Kiana looking at her with a face full of concern.

"You've been eating very little lately, and you keep spacing out. Are you feeling sick?"

"Have I? But I don't feel unwell anywhere."

Mei answered with a gentle smile, though that smile was only a disguise.

She truly had felt that something had been off lately. When she woke in the morning, there would sometimes be bloodstains on the bed. At times, she felt dizzy and had headaches. She was also sleeping noticeably more and had lost some of her appetite.

Most importantly... that regular monthly occurrence had not come this month.
