Evening, Queens Police Precinct.

"Damn it, what kind of trash game is this? The NPCs actually ambush people! If I ever see that guy again, I'll make sure he learns why the flowers are so red!"

Li Hao walked out of the precinct with a foul expression, gritting his teeth and muttering as he looked at the darkening sky.

Cursing his way along the path, his expression only soured further when he passed through a dim alleyway and reached the exit.

At the mouth of the alley, three men were squatting and smoking; judging by their shaved heads, tattoos, and hippie attire, they were clearly no good.

He held no hope for the public security in this game. Several of his friends had been robbed while walking at night, with the unluckiest one getting hit three times in a single evening—they didn't even leave him his underwear.

The developers of this game were simply insane. What kind of bird-brained social system did they design? Citizens could legally carry guns? Were they worried their population was too high?

He hesitated for a moment, and seeing that the three thugs at the alley entrance hadn't noticed him, Li Hao slowly began to retreat back into the shadows.

The man behind him grinned, showing absolutely no awareness of having startled anyone.

"It's you!"

Seeing who it was, Li Hao's fury ignited instantly. He didn't care about alerting the thugs at the alley entrance anymore and grabbed the man by the collar, teeth gritted.

"Impulse is not a good habit."

Li Si grinned, his right hand resting lightly on the arms that were gripping his collar.

Zzzzt—! Zzzzt—!

A sound of electric current erupted, and the owner of those hands immediately began to twitch and tremble violently.

A few seconds felt as long as several years.

When Li Si pulled his hands away, Li Hao collapsed onto the ground, his face a mask of shock and suspicion: "You... you..."

"I told you not to be so impulsive."

Li Si remained smiling, reaching out a hand to pull him up, but the latter scrambled backward in alarm.

"Don't worry, they're just little gadgets, perfectly controllable."

Li Si raised his hands, which were clad in black gloves, to demonstrate, then reached out once more.

Li Hao was skeptical, constantly comforting himself that this was just a game, but eventually, he accepted Li Si's gesture and was pulled to his feet.

If they hadn't met just now, he might have wondered why an NPC he had never interacted with would ambush him, but now that they had crossed paths, he didn't believe it was a coincidence.
