Their hands clasped.
Li Si's smile grew brighter.
Otto Gunther might not have realized his own worth. For now, he still saw himself as a little assistant and junior researcher. He hadn't yet developed the aura of the big-shot physicist Doctor Octopus from the original story.
But Li Si knew exactly what Doctor Octopus was capable of.
If it had been some other villain or hero who relied on superpowers, with Max as the sole exception, then no matter how impressive their abilities were, Li Si wouldn't have thought much of it. Bringing someone like that on board would at best give him another fighter—and they might not even follow his orders.
If he wanted fighters, he might as well mass-produce robots or enhanced humans. Once he advanced the technology far enough, mass-producing superpowered people would be no problem.
But Otto Gunther wasn't a fighter by trade. Though he became a famous Spider-Man villain in the original story thanks to his Doctor Octopus Arms, at heart, he was a scientific talent.
There weren't many scientists who made a name for themselves through technology in Marvel. They were all geniuses with cutting-edge inventions of their own.
Although Li Si now had the Mini Arc Reactor and had little interest in Otto Gunther's controlled nuclear fusion technology, which was still in its infancy, Otto Gunther could do much more than build an artificial sun and Doctor Octopus Arms.
The fact that he could build those two things simply showed how deep his knowledge of mechanics and nuclear physics ran. Given time and a suitable research direction, he could help Li Si continue to optimize and upgrade the Mini Arc Reactor and Bumblebee, or even develop a whole range of other advanced technologies.
Research had never been a one-man job. No matter how
