The failed boarding operation had caused the Zerg to lose their best chance to attack. The recovered Andromeda Company warships had raised their shields again, and all their main guns had finished cooling down and charging.

Like a spear, the First Fleet charged straight toward the center of the Zerg swarm.

According to intelligence obtained from the Federation, the Zerg consciously reinforced the defenses around their central area during battle.

Not only that, when the center of a Zerg fleet was about to be breached, the surrounding warships would rush to support it at all costs.

Unfortunately, the Federation's strength was limited. In none of their battles had they ever truly pierced the layers of a Zerg fleet's defenses and uncovered the secret at the very heart of the swarm.

Moreover, this situation only occurred in battles involving an enormous number of combat units. It would never appear in an ordinary engagement.

Thus, the Federation concluded that the center of a Zerg fleet likely contained a mothership that commanded the fleet, just like in the movies.

After all, ideas in movies came from reality. In a twisted biological civilization like the Zerg, it was entirely possible for a mothership to exist at the center of their fleet.

But what use was guessing correctly? The Federation's fleet was now too weak to launch a large-scale decisive battle.

Even if they knew the Zerg's weakness, they lacked the strength to break through the fleet's layered defenses.
