The sun was setting behind the western hills.
Su Mo's group of five finally left the Far North and arrived outside a city called North Cold City.
This city was the northernmost city of the Heaven Dou Empire, and its scale was not particularly large.
Yet it was an important pass between the Heaven Dou Empire and the Far North, bearing the vital duty of defending against Soul Beast incursions.
"We'll rest here for the night and set off again early tomorrow morning," Su Mo said calmly, standing with his hands behind his back.
"Yes, Young Master Su," Shui Lingyue replied respectfully from behind him.
Though she was still uncertain of Su Mo's exact identity and strength, the fact that he had appeared before them without a sound and frightened off several ten-thousand-year Soul Beasts was already enough to explain everything.
"Let's go." After saying that, Su Mo took the lead toward the city gates, with Snow Empress and the other three hurrying after him.
At the city gates stood two rows of fully armed soldiers. Holding spears, they inspected passing pedestrians and carriages.
Since Su Mo and the others all carried themselves with extraordinary bearing and wore magnificent clothes, the guards did not dare slight them in the least. After a simple inspection, they allowed them into the city.
Inside the city, the streets were paved with bluestone, and shops lined both sides, offering every sort of trade and business.
Most pedestrians on the streets wore thick fur coats and hurried along. Many had cheeks reddened by the cold, and clouds of white mist puffed from their mouths and noses as they spoke.
There were also quite a few burly men traveling in groups of three or five, weapons hanging at their waists as they discussed the day's gains.
