Background / History

Class D entered the school year as the least stable first-year class. Its students lacked cohesion, with Suzune Horikita remaining isolated, Yosuke Hirata attempting to preserve superficial harmony, and Kiyotaka Ayanokoji staying inconspicuous while observing from the margins. The class was later revealed to have earned no Class Points in its first month. 5 6

During the first written special exam, Class D obtained previous-year exam papers through points, with Kikyo Kushida publicly delivering the material to the class. Despite this advantage, Ken Sudo fell one point below the mathematics passing line; Ayanokoji and Horikita used 100,000 points to prevent his expulsion. The class ultimately avoided expulsions but only narrowly stabilized after the exam. 9 10 11

The class faced another crisis when Sudo was accused of assaulting Class C students. Its monthly point distribution was suspended pending a student-council hearing. Following information supplied anonymously by Yoshikage Kira, Horikita located witness Airi Sakura; her testimony and Horikita’s argument prevented the accusation from fully succeeding. Class D later became involved in a voyeurism incident caused by several of its students. Horikita recovered the SD card from a remote-controlled camera car, then handled the matter internally with Ichinose and Kira’s knowledge; she subsequently reprimanded those involved. 20 21

During the Uninhabited Island Exam, Class D struggled with disagreements over supply purchases and later admitted Mio Ibuki, who was secretly acting as a Class C spy. After a fire and the theft of its apparent leader card, Horikita withdrew because of illness and injuries. On the cruise-ship VIP Exam, Class D continued to rely on information sharing among its members. Hirata and Yukimura coordinated attempts to protect Class D’s VIPs, while Koenji independently ended the Monkey Group’s assessment early, creating further complications for the class. 42 43
