In the dim dungeon, two children who barely knew each other stared wide-eyed at one another, unable to say a word for a long while.
"Say, do you know where this is?" Unable to bear the atmosphere any longer, Naruto Uzumaki spoke first.
They were not close, but as classmates, they could not exactly be complete strangers either. Still, aside from knowing that the little girl before him was named Hyuga Hinata, it was not much different from not knowing her at all.
Hinata shook her head, her little face filled with confusion.
Naruto sighed and ran over to the small ground-level window. A faint light shone in through it, allowing them to make out some things.
He lightly leaped up, grabbed the bars of the window, and looked outside. His field of vision was extremely limited. Aside from a few unusually tall trees in the distance, he could see nothing else. The world was incredibly dim; it looked like nighttime, but there should not have been a moon in the sky.
"From what I can see, we've been locked in a dungeon. This is outrageous! How dare they treat the future Hokage like this?"
Naruto muttered indignantly, though his eyes sharply swept over the surroundings. All five of his senses were fully alert, hoping to catch the slightest movement.
But no sounds came from anywhere. It seemed their captors had simply tossed them into the dungeon and left them to fend for themselves.
"No one's even watching us? They really look down on us." Naruto muttered as he gathered the chakra within his body. Specks of light spun into existence, condensing into a rapidly rotating sphere.
"Rasengan!"
