The Nine-Tails Attack was a pivotal event in the original story of Naruto, and also where the plot began.
Last night, that upheaval underwent its most fundamental change. Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, who should have died, survived. Naturally, everything would change accordingly.
The world would not stop because someone was gone, but it could change because someone was added.
The Nine-Tails Attack had caused devastating losses, but fortunately, not many high-ranking ninja had died. Konoha's foundations remained intact. Still, there was no shortage of matters that needed handling, especially for the village's Hokage.
Thus, early in the morning, Minato Namikaze threw himself into government affairs. He had to consider every aspect: the villagers' interests, post-disaster relief, the attitudes of the great clans, and certain unspeakable schemes among the higher-ups. Everything had to be sorted through bit by bit.
Fortunately, the Third Hokage had not yet fully stepped into retirement. He still personally managed much of the government work, so there was not much that truly required Minato's approval. Even after Minato signed off on some matters, they still had to be sent to the Third Hokage for another review.
At times, Minato felt a flicker of dissatisfaction. Though he had become Hokage, he did not hold the final say. More power remained in the hands of the old faction known as the "Konoha Four-Man Group."
However, that thought passed in an instant. He had only recently become Hokage, and as a civilian ninja, his roots among the village's upper ranks were shallow. Without making appropriate compromises, even his position as Hokage might become unstable.
"Once enough time passes, everything will get better," Minato Namikaze often thought.
Unfortunately, in the original story, he died in the Nine-Tails Attack before enough time could pass.
