If Danzo wanted someone to disappear, very few people would be able to see him. Yet Minato Namikaze happened to be one of those few.

As the Fourth Hokage of Konoha and the village's nominal highest-ranking leader, it would have been downright ridiculous for him to be turned away by one of the higher-ups.

Especially when Minato was clearly in a foul mood today.

"So they still failed to stop him." Inside Root headquarters, Danzo watched Minato Namikaze approach and sighed inwardly.

He had already ordered his subordinates to stop Minato Namikaze, but it seemed to have had no effect.

"Lord Danzo, you must already know why I'm here today. I need an explanation for Root's actions today. You're not going to evade responsibility for what happened to Naruto, are you?" Minato Namikaze said, sitting down directly across from Danzo.

Danzo's gaze remained calm and unruffled. He waved a hand. "You may leave first."

The masked Root ninja bowed and silently withdrew from the room. Danzo then looked past Minato Namikaze, toward the person behind him.

"Kakashi is my student. Besides, there is nothing here that others cannot hear." Minato understood what Danzo meant, but gave him no face whatsoever.

In truth, he had long been dissatisfied with Danzo. Within the first two years after he took office as Hokage, Danzo had planted spies within Minato's direct Anbu. Kakashi had even had covert clashes with Root operatives because of it.

Minato had known about those matters at the time, but because of the standing of the Third Hokage and Danzo, he had turned a blind eye and chosen not to speak up.

But this time, Naruto had the merit of repelling Kumogakure behind him, and Minato's prestige within Konoha had risen accordingly. That was why he had come directly to
