The Jade Emperor said, "No matter what, we should still ask the Buddha for help. What if he truly decides to intervene?"
The Jade Emperor would never give up completely. As long as there was even a shred of hope, he had to try.
Virudhaka had no choice but to send a plea for aid to Spirit Mountain.
The Jade Emperor also wanted to seek help from Patriarch Bodhi of Mind Platform Square-Inch Mountain, but he could not send a message out.
Even if he could, Patriarch Bodhi would not help him. After all, the one outside was his disciple.
At Spirit Mountain in the Western Heaven, after Maitreya Buddha received Virudhaka's message, he went to see Tathagata.
"Venerable One, the Jade Emperor of the Heavenly Court has asked us for help," Maitreya Buddha said with a smile.
Tathagata said, "Reply to them that we cannot interfere in the affairs of the Heavenly Court."
"Venerable One, this is a fine opportunity for our Buddhist Sect. Would it not be a good thing to use this chance to take control of the Heavenly Court?"
Tathagata smiled faintly. "If it were truly so easy, do you think Lord Lao would refrain from acting against the enemy? Would he let the Jade Emperor come begging us for help?"
Maitreya Buddha thought about it and realized that was true.
"Since Lord Lao is not making a move, we must not make one either. If we intervene in the Heavenly Court, we will fall into a disadvantageous position. Lord Lao may even subdue us. So, let us remain at Spirit Mountain and observe how things develop," Tathagata continued.
Maitreya Buddha understood and relayed the response to Virudhaka.
After learning of the Buddhist Sect's stance, the Jade Emperor felt utterly helpless.
