But although they had been afraid back then, they would never retreat, much less be like this disciple now—so frightened that he knelt on the ground, babbling nonsense and begging the other party for mercy.
Even if they had died back then, they would never have uttered a single plea for mercy. That was because the Buddhist Sect's disciples of that time all held faith in their hearts. For their pursuits and beliefs, they feared neither life nor death.
Maitreya Buddha walked down from the mountain and happened to see this Buddhist Sect disciple begging for mercy. His brows could not help but furrow slightly.
However, he did not bother with the Buddhist Sect disciple. As he passed by, other Buddhist Sect disciples came over and took the pleading disciple away.
"Carefree Great Emperor, your esteemed arrival has truly made the Buddha's light of our Buddhist Sect shine even brighter," Maitreya Buddha said with a smile.
Carefree Great Emperor said, "The Buddhist Sect has developed for so many years. Although its power has grown considerably and its numbers have increased greatly, the faith and backbone it possessed in the past have gradually become scarce."
Maitreya Buddha said, "What the Carefree Great Emperor says is true. We are indeed like this now, but it is a stage every sect must inevitably go through as it develops. We only need to get through it. Besides, this is merely a small portion of our Buddhist Sect. Most people still possess their own faith."
Carefree Great Emperor merely sneered. "I am not only speaking of your ordinary Buddhist Sect disciples. I also mean you and Tathagata Buddha. The two of you
