Red Boy had come to Flame Mountain with his parents. For some reason, he felt drawn to what lay within it.
Then, while his parents were not paying attention, he quietly slipped into Flame Mountain.
Though the flames were incredibly powerful, Red Boy was not afraid. As long as he used a little of his power, the flames could not hurt him.
He ran all over Flame Mountain, feeling exceptionally comfortable. He also discovered that the flames could nourish his body.
After running several laps through Flame Mountain, Red Boy suddenly found a spot and lay down on it. His body was not burned at all; it felt as though he were lying on a warm beach.
Then he started running again, laughing and cheering all the way.
After running for some distance, Red Boy discovered a living creature inside Flame Mountain. It was a fox—a red fox—hopping about amid the flames.
Red Boy could not help frowning. He naturally understood how formidable Flame Mountain was. He did not quite understand why he could play freely within it, though he knew he was special.
Now, this red fox was also hopping about and playing here. That was rather strange.
Red Boy chased after the red fox. Seeing him coming after it, the fox hopped away into the distance, seemingly somewhat frightened.
After chasing the fox for dozens of li, Red Boy suddenly stopped and looked at a large boulder beside him. He found a crack beneath it, and inside the crack lay the corpse of a fox.
It was a red fox. Its body lay there motionless, as if it had been burned to death.
