"We'll set up the Heavenly Tribulation Array here," Tathagata Buddha said with a smile.
The two began their work over the Flowing Sand River. The Heavenly Tribulation Array was immensely powerful. Once established, it would be extremely difficult to fly within this area—not even a Great Luo Golden Immortal could do so.
The moment one tried to fly, a force resembling a heavenly tribulation would attack them, making it exceptionally difficult to deal with.
After half a shichen, the two had finished setting everything up.
"All right. Now we'll wait and see, and watch how things unfold," Yuanshi Tianzun said with a smile.
There was no need for them to wait nearby. They left the place and found a quiet little pavilion in the hills, where they played chess and chatted to their hearts' content.
Xuanzang and the other four traveled onward. After crossing the eight-hundred-li Yellow Wind Ridge, they found a vast plain to the west. After who knew how long on the road, they finally reached the Flowing Sand River.
This great river surged with wild waves, its murky waters churning with springs.
"This river is broad and enormous. It feels rather extraordinary, too."
He had just stepped atop a tall boulder and risen onto his toes to gaze out at the Flowing Sand River.
"Goku, do you know what this river is called?" Xuanzang asked from the side.
"No idea."
The group walked to the bank of the Flowing Sand River and saw a stone stele there, bearing the three words: Flowing Sand River.
